Revoltech Evangelion Figures
Revoltech is a line of Japanese action figures that utilizes a special ‘Revolver Joint’ in the frame. This unique joint enables an action figure to have a wide range of motion and stability. Providing the action figure owner the ability to create a variety of dynamic poses. Revoltech has created figures for a variety of anime, video games, manga and movies. One popular line up is the Evangelion Revoltech figures.
Revoltech Maker Kaiyodo
Kaiyodo is a long-established Japanese action figure manufacturer based in Kadoma, Osaka Prefecture. The company was established in1964 and introduced the toy figure lineup of Revoltech Evangelion figures in 2009.
Revoltech Toys
Revoltech figures are unique in the way that the line of toys have a special ‘Revolver Joint’. The name “Revoltech” is a portmanteau for "Revolver Technology", and makes reference to this unique joint. The "Revolver Joint" consists of 3 main pieces. Firstly two half spheres white flat sections that provides friction for the joint. Secondly a cross pin section that locks the whole joint and both spheres have pegs to connect each body part. For example linking the arms and torso of a figure. This joint helps stabilize in any pose the owner may wish to put the figure in and is one of the reasons why this range is so popular within the toy figure otaku community. Each toy comes with a variety of accessories and weapons, and enthusiasts find reenacting poses from an anime series or movie film to be very exciting.
Design-wise the Revoltech lineup consists of four main categories. A real robot, super robot, humanoid and lastly a creature.
Revoltech Evangelion Figures
Revoltech is a brand that always gives Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise some attention. It has manufactured all variants of [Evangelion Units]/otapedia/anime/neon_genesis_evangelion/units_pilots) so far. At the time of first releases of the Evangelion Rebuild series, more than 10 Evangelion toys which included all the exclusives and miniRevoltechs were released from the Yamaguchi lineup, which also included five or six figures from Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance.
Evangelion Evolution Revoltech EVA Unit-01 (Natayanagi Ver.)
The most recent Evangelion Revoltech figure to be released from the Yamaguchi lineup is the Evangelion Evolution Revoltech EVA Unit-01 (Natayanagi Ver.) model of Evangelion Unit 01, piloted by Shinji Ikari. Released in December 2019. The 7.28 inch Evangelion Unit 01 sports a new pearly purple paint finish with an army-like black and green accent. The newest model in particular is made with new and improved Yamaguchi articulation, making the posing possibilities endless.
The most unique feature of this model is that it comes with a Natayanagi knife. A large double-ended Japanese knife, styled and sized for the Evangelion. This model was made in collaboration for a Evangelion and Japanese Knife exhibition and created from the designs of the anime series original mecha designer Ikuto Yamashita.

Evangelion Evolution EV-014 - EVA Kai Unit-02 Production Model
In addition to the newest models, Kaiyodo and Revoltech released many models in conjunction with the new release of the Evangelion Rebuild movies. Another popular model is Evangelion Unit 02 piloted by Asuka Langley Shikinami in the Evangelion Rebuild 2.0 movie, the Evangelion Evolution EV-014 - EVA Kai Unit-02 Production Model.
Just like the model in the movie, the model is an all new crisp red Evangelion Unit 02 with metallic parts. The Eva Kai Unit-02 is about 16cm tall and comes with a gatling gun that replaces the arm of Unit 02, just as seen in the movie. In addition, a twin-blade sword and 6 interchangeable hands.

Evangelion Evolution Revoltech EV-012 EVA Unit-08 Alpha Utility Model (WILLE Custom)
Another addition to the lineup from the Evangelion Rebuild series is Evangelion Unit 08, piloted by Mari Illustrious Makinami. The EV-012 EVA Unit-08 Alpha Utility Model (WILLE Custom) model is one of the newest Evangelion Units to appear in the movies, and this pink Unit comes full of large and bulky weapons.
Designed and created from scenes in the Evangelion Rebuild 3.0 movie, Evangelion Unit 08 comes equipped with a Long-barrel rifle and a Super-large back unit shield that is more than two times the actual size of the model figure.
