Synopsis
In a world in which humans and monsters coexist, a young boy named Yu wakes up a mysterious girl, Merc, who is trapped inside a bottle. As Merc has lost all her memories, Yu decides to travel with her and help her find out who she really is.
Background
Merc Storia: The Apathetic Boy and the Girl in a Bottle is adapted from the fantasy RPG developed by Happy Elements and released for iOS and Android in 2014. The anime adaptation was announced in January 2018 and will premiere on Oct. 11, 2018. The opening theme for the first season will by "Origin" by Mili.
Characters
Yu (Voiced by: Mutsumi Tamura)
Yu is an apathetic 15-year-old boy whose eyes are always half closed. He possesses a great talent for healing monsters but is also afraid of them because of a traumatic childhood incident and had no inclination to become a healer before setting off on the journey with Merc. Thanks to his travels and meeting various people on the road, his views begin to change.
Merc (Voiced by: Inori Minase)
Merc is a mysterious girl who exists in a liquid state and is trapped in a small bottle. She arrived in Yu’s house when her father bought her from a stall and has lost all her memories of her previous life. She is determined to go travelling and find out who she really is. Bright and cheerful, Merc makes a lot of friends on the road.
Toto (Voiced by: Yumiri Hanamori)
Toto is the first monster Yu heals.
