Synopsis

Sternbild City is home to a wide range of people of all races and ethnicities as well as those with special powers called NEXT, who use their abilities to protect the city and its inhabitants as professional heroes. Each hero has a corporate sponsor, and their activities are broadcast live on the popular program Hero TV for all to see, with each hero vying for the title of “King of Heroes.”

Kotetsu T. Kaburagi and Barnaby Brooks Jr. are two professional heroes who have continued their hero activities for the sake of the civilians’ safety and improving the image of their corporate sponsor, Apollon Media. Now, with the “Hero System” that originated in Sternbild City being introduced to many parts of the world, the number of heroes worldwide has been increasing. As veteran heroes, everyone has high expectations of Kotetsu and Barnaby, but will they be able to live up to them?

Background

Tiger & Bunny is a Japanese TV anime series produced by Sunrise that began in 2011 and has been adapted into several manga, video games, and films to date, including Tiger & Bunny: The Comic written by Erika Yoshida and illustrated by Hiroshi Ueda that ran from October 2011 to September 2016 and was published in seven collected tankobon volumes, and the series’ second film Tiger & Bunny: The Rising which was released in February 2014.

Tiger & Bunny 2 is an upcoming ONA (original net animation) that is being animated by Bandai Namco Pictures with CG production by Sunrise Digital Creation Studio. It features Mitsuko Kase as director, with Masafumi Nishida handling series composition and scripts, Masakazu Katsura handling character designs, and Yoshihiro Ike composing the music. The anime’s opening theme song is "kaleido proud fiesta" by UNISON SQUARE GARDEN, and the ending theme song is “AIDA” by ano. It will span 25 episodes total, with the first 13 being released simultaneously worldwide via Netflix on April 8, 2022.

Kotetsu T. Kaburagi / Wild Tiger (Voiced by: Hiroaki Hirata)
Kotetsu is the veteran hero Wild Tiger who debuted 10 years ago. After a tumultuous journey, he makes his return as a hero with the First League. As a hero, he is sponsored by Apollon Media, and his NEXT ability is Hundred Power, which allows him to increase his power by 100-fold for a minute.

Barnaby Brooks Jr. (Voiced by: Masakazu Morita)
Barnaby is a hero who goes by the same name as his hero alter ego and is a duo together with Kotetsu. As a hero, he is sponsored by Apollon Media, and his NEXT ability Hundred Power, which allows him to increase his power by 100-fold for 5 minutes.

Karina Lyle / Blue Rose (Voiced by: Minako Kotobuki)
Karina is the idol hero Blue Rose and is popular for her singing and dancing. She works hard as a hero while also being a college student. As a hero, she is sponsored by Titan Industry, and her NEXT ability is Ice Manipulation, which allows her to create and control ice.

Antonio Lopez / Rock Bison (Voiced by: Taiten Kusunoki)
Antonio is a veteran hero known as Rock Bison who is brawny and strong. He is good friends with Kotetsu from way back. As a hero, he is sponsored by Kronos Foods, and his NEXT ability is Impenetrable Skin, which makes him invulnerable to harm.

Keith Goodman / Sky High (Voiced by: Go Inoue)
Keith is a hero known as Sky High who is popular with people of all ages. He is a hard worker who never takes a day off, and though he is serious, he also has an airheaded side. As a hero, he is sponsored by Poseidon Line, and his NEXT ability is Wind Manipulation, which lets him create and control wind.

Pao-Lin Huang / Dragon Kid (Voiced by: Mariya Ise)
Pao-Lin is a hero known as Dragon Kid who has excellent physicality. She has a boyish nature and refers to herself in a masculine tone. As a hero, she is sponsored by Odysseus Communication, and her NEXT ability is Lightning Manipulation, which lets her create and control lightning.

Ivan Karelin / Origami Cyclone (Voiced by: Nobuhiko Okamoto)
Ivan is the form-changing hero Origami Cyclone and an alum of the Hero Academy who is normally shy and negative-minded. As a hero, he is sponsored by Helperides Finance, and his NEXT ability is Shapeshifting, who allows him to change his form to look like anyone else.

Nathan Seymour / Fire Emblem (Voiced by: Kenjiro Tsuda)
Nathan is the hero Fire Emblem and the owner of Helios Energy, which is also his sponsor. He is service-minded and enjoys helping others. His NEXT ability is Pyrokinesis, which allows him to create and control fire.

Thomas Taurus / He Is Thomas (Voiced by: Nobunaga Shimazaki)
Thomas is a new hero in Sternbild City known as He Is Thomas. Though a newcomer to the hero scene, he is highly skilled, and his sponsor has high expectations of him. His NEXT ability is Psychokinesis, which allows him to control objects with his mind.

Subaru Sengoku / Mr. Black (Voiced by: Shoya Chiba)
Subaru is a new hero in Sternbild City known as Mr. Black. He used to be active as the youngest hero in his hometown. He passed the hero employment exam with flying colors, and his NEXT ability is Barrier, which allows him to create and control protective barriers.

Lara Tchaikoskaya / Magical Cat (Voiced by: Tomori Kusunoki)
Lara is a new hero in Sternbild City known as Magical Cat. She is a studious girl who is frank and cheerful. Her NEXT ability is Water Manipulation, which allows her to create and control water.

Mario (Voiced by: Shinichiro Ota)
Mario is the announcer for Hero TV.
