RWBY Volume 1-3: The Beginning
Summary
Created by Monty Oum and produced by Rooster Teeth, RWBY is an American anime-style CG animated web series that takes place in Remnant, a world infested by dark, destructive creatures known as the Grimm. It started running in July 2013, and it currently has four seasons and 52 episodes.
Although the Japanese version of volumes 1-3 was previously released on Blu-ray and DVD, this is the first time the series will air on television. A special Japanese dub edition titled RWBY Volume 1-3: The Beginning will premiere on Tokyo MX on July 8 and will be available on a number of video streaming services in Japan.

Team RWBY (pronounced “ruby”)
Ruby Rose (CV: Lindsay Jones / Saori Hayami)
A bubbly 15-year-old girl who wants to become a Huntress and protect those who don’t have the power to protect themselves. The younger sister of Yang and the leader of Team RWBY, she wields a scythe that transforms into a sniper rifle.
Weiss Schnee (CV: Kara Eberle / Yoko Hikasa)
The heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, an influential and notoriously shady corporation based in the kingdom of Atlas, Weiss chose to attend Beacon Academy to restore the honor of her family. She uses a Dust revolver/rapier and glyphs. Although slightly cold and condescending in the beginning, she learns to trust her teammates over time.
Blake Belladonna (CV: Arryn Zech / Yuu Shimamura)
A Faunus and a former member of the terrorist organization White Fang, Blake is reserved and generally keeps to herself, preferring the company of books. As time progresses she opens up to her teammates and stands up to confront the past that has been haunting her. Her weapon is a “variant ballistic chain scythe,” a sharpened sheath and a blade/pistol tied to a ribbon.
Yang Xiao Long (CV: Barbara Dunkelman / Ami Koshimizu)
A real hothead who gets insanely powerful when injured or angry, Yang fights with her fists and twin shotgun gauntlets. She is the older half-sister of Ruby as well as an older sister figure to the team. Yang is a thrill-seeker who wants to become a Huntress for the adventure and excitement. She is also on the search for her mom who left her after birth.
Team JNPR (pronounced “juniper”)
Jaune Arc (CV: Miles Luna / Hiro Shimono)
Wielding a sword and shield combo, Jaune is the leader of Team JNPR. He has a crush on Weiss and tries to act confident around her but it usually backfires.
Nora Valkyrie (CV: Samantha Ireland / Aya Suzaki)
A hyperactive girl and a childhood friend of Ren who uses a war hammer/grenade launcher to smash her enemies. Although she tends to annoy her teammates with her constant talking, she is also the most cheerful member of the group and helps the others stay positive.
Pyrrha Nikos (CV: Jen Brown / Megumi Toyoguchi)
Despite being well-known as the four-time champion of the Mistral Regional Tournament, Pyrrha doesn’t let fame get to her head. She is a calm thinker when it comes to battles and fights with a spear/rifle/sword and a round shield. She likes Jaune as he was the first to treat her like a normal person.
Lie Ren (CV: Monty Oum in vol. 1-2 and Neath Oum from vol. 3 onwards / Soma Saito)
A childhood friend of Nora’s with a completely opposite personality. He is usually laid back and often gets pushed around by his teammates. His weapon of choice is a pair of bladed automatic pistols.
