Authorities are abilities used by Witches of Sin and Sin Archbishops that are manifested within people after they take in Witch Factors. Since Ley has implied the ability to control the White Whale because of Daphne’s Witch Factors, it is assumed that the Sin Archbishops inherit or receive Authorities that originally belonged to the Witches of Sin.

Authority of Sloth

Notable users of this authority are Subaru Natsuki, Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti a Sin Archbishop of Sloth, Satella the witch of Envy, and Sekhmet the witch of Sloth.
The user can emit a black wave into the surrounding area which aims to corrupt the minds of those affected.

Unseen Hand - The user manifests invisible hands which vary in power, area of effect, and quantity, depending on the user. Satella the witch of Envy was capable of controlling 2000 hands at once according to Puck. The user can also make the hands phase through objects if they concentrate enough. Subaru acquires a much weaker form of this ability which he calls Unseen Providence. Subaru is only able to control one hand at a short range using this ability.

Authority of Gluttony

Notable users of this authority are Ley Baitenkaitos, Roy Alphard, and Louis Arneb who are all Sin Archbishops of Gluttony and Daphne the Witch of Gluttony.
The user is able to eat the name and memories of a target by first touching the target with their left hand and then licking the palm on the same hand. Experience, talent, and the likes and dislikes of human relationships are ‘eaten’ by the authority user which allows them to use the abilities and memories of the target. However, eating a fake name in this manner causes the user to be plagued with severe nausea. There are three results from this ability.

Firstly, eating just the name of a target causes them to be erased from the world, removing their existence itself and destroying any human relationships as well as preventing the use of magic and negating any Spirit contracts. In comparison, consuming just the memories of a target causes amnesia and effectively makes the target become a different person. Finally, eating both the name and memories causes the target to become an empty shell that no longer eats, excretes waste, or ages.

Eclipse - an ability under the authority of gluttony that is considered to be the user’s trump card. It is confirmed to have two types; Solar Eclipse and Lunar Eclipse. The specifics of this ability have not been explained at this point, but Otto described it as Ley becoming sinister on a different level. In effect Ley had his speed increased enough to give off the illusion of moving in an instant. Louis in Ley’s form claimed that his current body was unable to properly use this ability but still boasted that he could completely destroy his opponents.

Authority of Greed

Notable users of this authority are Subaru Natsuki, Regulus Corneas who is a Sin Archbishop of Greed, and Echidna who is the Witch of Greed.
This authority primarily manifests as an ability called Stillness of an Object’s Time. The user is able to stop the flow of time affect themselves, anything they’re wearing, anything they’ve touched, or even their breath. Targets of this ability cannot be affected by outside forces and any attacks against the user in this state are negated. In contrast, the user is still able to interact with the rest of the world with increased effectiveness. For example, a wave of the user’s hand can cut anything in its trajectory, air released from the stillness causes shockwaves, and thrown gravel acts as inevitable shots. The difference in time flow also allows the user to travel at extremely high speeds in normal time. This ability places a strain on the user’s heart as it also stops and can be deadly if used multiple times.

Small King is an ability associated with the Authority of Greed that circumvents the weakness of Stillness of an Object’s Time. It allows the user to merge their heart with a person in their kingdom which in practice is any woman that the user has confirmed to be their wife. Destroying the merger places the burden upon the user once again with no other discernible effects. No other specific conditions or effect area limitations are currently known for this ability.

Cor Leonis, also known as “Lion Heart” is an ability under this authority that Subaru gained in Arc 6. It functions in the inverse manner to Small King and allows Subaru to take on the burdens (physical and mental) of others. In doing so, he is able to temporarily increase the target’s combat abilities. It is limited to work only on people Subaru has an emotional connection to. He also needs to be able to sense them through his authority. This is described as seeing people as points of light and he can further use this to derive relative positions of everyone to himself as well as their emotional states.

Authority of Wrath

Notable users of this authority are Sirius a Sin Archbishop of Wrath and Minerva the Witch of Sin.
Users of this authority can share or transmit their own emotions and senses to other people. Polarizing emotions such as anger or sorrow can be used to either take control of a group of people or be resonated through a group to raise emotions to the point of madness. In extreme cases if a person in the affected area dies, the user can force others within the area to also die in the same way.

Chain Control or Fire Control is a subset of this ability which allows the user to control chains wrapped around their body in normal chain form or after transforming them into fire.

Authority of Lust

Notable users of this authority are Capella Emerada Lugnica a Sin Archbishop of Lust and Carmilla the Witch of Lust.
The ability under this authority is known as Variation and Change which allows the user to transform themselves and others into various forms. Further, users of this ability can use it to heal by simply transforming away damage to themselves. Spare parts that are regenerated through this method dissolve after being replaced.

Authority of Vainglory

A notable user of this authority is Pandora the Witch of Vainglory. This authority allows the user to rewrite a phenomenon in their favour as many times as they want. This extends to negating their death, burying people in the ground instantly, and altering people’s memories. The Black Serpent is unable to be controlled via this ability but can be directed to wherever the user wants.

Authority of Melancholy

A notable user of this authority is Hector the Warlock of Melancholy. This authority allows the user to create an invisible gravity field that crushes both living beings and magic.
