Osamu Miya Haikyu!! - Nendoroid

As the Haikyu!! anime prepares for its next season, the standout stars from the fourth season remain wildly popular with fans. The Miya Brothers in particular enjoy a fanbase that rivals their in-universe popularity. Even with less screen time than his brother, Osamu Miya earned dedicated fans and appearances in merchandise, promotional material, and figures. His Nendoroid debut gives him a much desired solo focus, "Nendoroid Haikyu!! To The Top Osamu Miya (Re-run)".

Nendoroid Haikyu!! To The Top Osamu Miya (Re-run)

The seemingly laidback Miya joins his brother on the court and in the Nendoroid line from Good Smile Company. He wears his black Inarizaki uniform with simple white details: his number 11, and the school kanji on the back. His default, deadpan expression serves as the base for one of his three faceplates. The other two depict him in his natural states: eating, and shocking horror, probably from his brother's actions. Additional arm parts allow fans to pose him in a spiking position, complete with a ball and a volleyball court base. One of his favorite food, a bowl of fresh rice, rounds out the accessories.

About Osamu Miya

Osamu Miya is a second year at Inarizaki High School. He is a starting player and opposite hitter. With his twin, Atsumu, he forms the famous Miya Brothers duo, known for their high skill level and fan club.

About Osamu Miya: Background

Unlike his brother, Osamu appears more laidback, agreeable and goes with the flow. Despite his even temper, Osamu can be competitive, childish, and occasionally violent. In most cases, he's pushed to these extremes by Atsumu. His favorite thing in the world is food and he often views the world in terms relating to food and hunger. His love of food may even surpass his love of volleyball.

Osamu started playing volleyball in elementary school along with Atsumu. Of the two, Osamu had a slightly better natural talent for the sport than Atsumu. However, Atsumu possessed greater dedication and a deeper love for the sport, which eventually led him to surpass Osamu.

About Osamu Miya: Abilities

As an outside hitter, Osamu has considerable attacking skill and versatility. His attack power is one of the highest on the team and his skills are on par with his nationally ranked brother. Together, he and Atsumu performed a copy of Shoyo Hinata and Tobio Kageyama’s minus tempo quick attack after only two attempts. He also has considerable skill as a setter, as he and Atsumu also pulled off the minus tempo quick attack with Osamu setting.

Osamu uses his calmness to his advantage on the court. When serving, Osamu waits the entire eight seconds before acting to build his opponents' stress. However, when he gets overly excited, he can get caught up in the action and lose sight of the game.

Other Important Haikyu!! Characters

Osamu is a central character in Inarizaki's volleyball team, and most of his significant relationships are within the team. Above all, his relationship with his twin brother, Atsumu, defines most of his actions in the story.

Atsumu Miya

Atsumu Miya is Osamu's twin brother and the setter on the Inarizaki volleyball team. As twins, Osamu and Atsumu spend a considerable amount of time together. They often serve as each other's motivation and main source of competition. As kids, Osamu became a setter before Atsumu and bragged about his better position. When Atsumu became setter, Osamu once again bragged that skilled players can play more than one position.

Historically, Osamu had better relationships with his teammates than Atsumu. He tried to convince Atsumu to be less critical and demeaning in order to improve his reputation, which Atsumu saw as unimportant. Atsumu's harsh criticism and demands can push the usually calm Osamu to violence. The fights between the twins are famous at Inarizaki High School.

Aran Ojiro

Aran Ojiro is a third year at Inarizaki High School and the volleyball team's ace. Aran has known the twins since elementary school when they met at a youth training camp. After hearing his "foreign-sounding" name, the twins made shortened nicknames for each other. Aran found them odd, but a little annoying. He is good-natured but serious, often leading to his role as the straight man to the twins' antics.

In a flashback, Aran reflects on the relationship between Atsumu and Osamu that he witnessed over the years. He admits that Osamu started as the more talented one, but that they both pushed each other to improve. Now that Atsumu is a nationally ranked player, Aran believes that the secret to his success isn't talent or natural athleticism. Instead, Aran believes Atsumu's greatest strength is that he had Osamu there to push him his whole life.
