Puella Magi Madoka Magica is an anime series that is known throughout the community for its deceptively cute character designs and dark deconstruction of the typical magical girl plot. Since the original series aired in 2011, the franchise has gathered a massive following, resulting in the release of several films, spin-off series, and games in the following years. Of course, plenty of merchandise based on the various characters was produced as well, including figures from manufacturers like Good Smile Company and their popular chibi-style Nendoroid line. As such, Madoka Kaname, the titular protagonist of the series, is no exception and would receive several different Nendoroids, with the most recent being the "Nendoroid Madoka Kaname: Yukata Ver."
Nendoroid Madoka Kaname: Yukata Ver.
This recreation of Madoka Kaname has her wearing a lovely summer yukata. The yukata design of this figure is the same as the one shown in the FREEing 1/8th scale figure that was released earlier that year. The design itself is mainly light pink and is decorated with delightful cherry blossoms and a bright yellow obi. Aside from the yukata, this figure also includes several accessories, like a Kyubey-themed coin purse, a removable flower hairpin, various hand parts, and several face plates to change her expression. These extra parts, in addition to the figure's wide range of articulation, allow for an impressive variety of different poses and customization for such a small figure.

About Madoka Kaname: Background
Madoka Kaname is a middle school student at Mitakihara Middle School. She is often characterized as being a very shy, yet exceedingly kindhearted and honest individual. Although her earnest nature makes it easy for her to make friends, some take advantage of her naiveté. Early in the series, she meets Kyubey, a strange cat-like creature who asks her to become a magical girl and, in exchange, will grant her one wish. Despite holding off on having her wish granted, she does eventually become a magical girl. After doing so, she gains much more confidence in herself and constantly attempts to help others in need, even if doing so puts her in harm's way.
About Madoka Kaname: Abilities
After becoming a magical girl, Madoka is forced to fight against Witches. Her weapon of choice is her magical bow, which allows her to fire arrows made of energy at her enemies. Madoka can also fire multiple arrows at once. Like other magical girls, Madoka also receives other benefits like enhanced durability, strength, and so on to survive attacks from Witches. As the audience learns more about the world of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, it is revealed that the franchise spans across many different timelines and that each new cycle causes Madoka's power to grow more and more.

Throughout the Madoka Magica series, Madoka comes across several other magical girls. Three magical girls that she becomes quite close with include Homura Akemi, Sayaka Miki, and Mami Tomoe.
Homura Akemi
Homura Akemi is first introduced to Madoka in a dream where she fights against strange creatures. However, the very next day, Homura appears as a new transfer student at her middle school. She is often portrayed as a cold, yet talented young woman who is adamant that Madoka should not become a magical girl. Her main magical ability is the ability to stop time. In addition, she can reverse the flow of time up to one month, which has led to the creation of numerous timelines in the franchise. In the original timeline, Homura is shown to be much more shy and timid, though it is revealed that living through several tragic timelines caused her personality to shift to what it is now.
Sayaka Miki
Sayaka Miki is a bold, confident, and heroic tomboy and Madoka's best friend. After she is thrown into the magical girl side of the world along with Madoka, Sayaka does not hesitate to form a contract with Kyubey to save her best friend. Her weapon of choice is a cutlass, which she can summon many copies of at will. In addition, Sayaka has incredible regenerative abilities, which allows her to recover from severe damage incredibly quickly. This ability can also be used to prevent her from feeling any pain whatsoever, turning her into an undefeatable foe.
Mami Tomoe
Mami Tomoe is a veteran magical girl who is one year older than Madoka. After saving both Madoka and Sayaka from being killed by a Witch, she teaches the two just how dangerous wandering into a Witch's domain can be. Furthermore, she offers to become a mentor figure for the two as well, should they choose to become magical girls themselves. Mami has two main magical abilities at her disposal, the first being the ability to control the ribbons of her outfit and use them to bolster her offense, defense, and maneuverability. Her second ability is the ability to summon a seemingly infinite amount of firearms out of thin air, which she can use in quick succession for a rapid series of ranged attacks. Mami can also transform these rifles into massive cannons to create even more powerful attacks that are capable of killing Witches.
