About Luke Skywalker: Background

Luke is the son of Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala. As a child, he was sent into hiding in the world of Tattooine due to his father being an enforcer. He was brought up as a moisture farmer until he met two droids from the Rebel alliance. This leads to him travelling to find his twin sister Princess Leia Organa and to travel to destroy the death star. He then trains with Yoda, the Jedi Grandmaster. Luke's journey to Jedi-hood is almost complete after. Later Anakin sacrifices himself to destroy the Sith and to save his son. Finally, it allows Luke and the Rebellion to take control of the galaxy.

Luke is described as being a curious, impatient, and reckless child. Qualities that are similar to his father. While these qualities often got the best of him, as he continues to hone his skills, he becomes more patient and shows wisdom far beyond his years. His reckless nature can also be seen when he will do anything for those who need help, at the cost of his own life. However, he also retains a very idealist view, thinks the best of anyone, and believes Vader is redeemable.

About Luke Skywalker: Abilities

From the beginning, Luke Skywalker has shown a strong affinity for lightsaber combat. His initial training with the weapon came when training with Obi-Wan Kenobi. After training with Yoda, he also becomes a very skilled duelist. He is able to hold down his own up against Vader and manages to wound Vader in the shoulder. His strength and mastery are seen as he takes on many students and teaches them. Most notably, he teaches Ben Solo, who becomes one of his most vital students.

Just like his father, Luke has a strong connection with the Force and is one of the most potent Force wielders in galactic history. He is believed to be strong enough to defeat the Sith independently. Luke's knowledge of the Force comes from his research and experience, as he only had a limited amount of time with his mentor Kenobi and one year of mentorship from Yoda before he died of old age. However, once again, he shows off his talent. After learning the basics of the Force, he quickly was able to find his way through it and had the habit of opening himself to the Force to help him become aware of his surroundings and gain further knowledge about the Force.

Rey Skywalker

Rey Skywalker, real name Rey Palpatine, is like a sister to Luke Skywalker. Rey looks up to Luke and takes on the last name Skywalker to honor him. While Luke was initially reluctant to train Rey, he slowly decides to train her and considers her the last Jedi.

Darth Vader

Darth Vader, also known as Anakin Skywalker, is Luke's father. The two met for the first time when Luke was 19 years old. Luke had developed immense respect for his father after hearing about how great a Jedi he was. He also has a deep-found hatred for Vader, who, unknown to him at the time, was all the same person. Despite Vader's actions Luke continues to believe that Vader does have some redeeming qualities and that he can be redeemed at some point.

Owen Lars

Owen acted as a fatherly figure to Luke and looked after him when Anakin turned to the dark side. While the two had a very strained relationship as Owen looked for any excuse to keep Luke in Tatooine. However, this produced the opposite effect and pushed Luke to leave and find out the truth quicker than Owen wanted him to.
