Synopsis
Shiloh, a boy living close to the town of Domina, begins hearing a mysterious voice in his dreams. A voice that tells him he has a mission… Then one day, he meets two Jumi, a race of people who were once killed in great numbers due to the jewels inside their chest. Now, their lives are in danger once again as mysterious jewel thieves are attacking them all over the world. Together with new friends, Shiloh sets out on a journey to recover the Jumi jewels!
Background
Legend of Mana was first released as an action RPG developed and published by Square (currently Square Enix) and is the fourth installment in the Mana series. The game was released on the PlayStation 1 in 1999 and became a commercial success, selling over 700,000 copies in its first year. In 2021, a remastered version of the game was released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows, and later that year iOS and Android versions were also released.
A TV anime adaptation titled Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal is currently in the works and is being jointly produced by Graphinica and Yokohama Animation Lab. It features Masato Jinbo as director and series composer, Taro Ikegami as character designer, and Yoko Shimomura as music composer. The anime’s opening theme song is “Tear of Will” by Saori Hayami. The anime will premiere in Japan on Oct. 7, 2022 during the Super Animeism programming block on MBS and TBS channels.
Characters
Shiloh (Voiced by: Nobunaga Shimazaki)
Shiloh is the protagonist of the series and is a young boy who lives next to the town of Domina. He is a compassionate boy overflowing with a sense of justice who likes looking after others. By meeting Elazul and Pearl, he becomes involved with the events surrounding the Jumi.
Serafina (Voiced by: Saori Hayami)
Serafina is the series’ second protagonist and is a girl whom Shiloh meets on his journey. She is cheerful, sociable, and helps Shiloh even though she just met him.
Elazul (Voiced by: Yuichiro Umehara)
Elazul is a Jumi Knight who possesses a lapis lazuli core. She is traveling together with his companion, Pearl. He cares for Pearl so much that he often lets his enthusiasm get the best of him.
Pearl (Voiced by: Kaori Nazuka)
Pearl is a Jumi Knight who possesses a pearl core. She adores Shiloh and calls him “Onii-sama.” She is the type to immediately get lost.
Sandra (Voiced by: Minako Kotobuki)
Sandra is an unidentified jewel thief who sets her sights on only the most brilliant jewels. She attacks Jumi repeatedly trying to steal their core and is being chased by the Void Police.
Emerald/Esmeralda (Voiced by: Ayane Sakura)
Emerald is a student at a magic academy. She keeps hidden the fact that she is an Emerald Jumi, and she is the youngest of four sisters. She is taken in by her teacher and becomes their student. She works hard to study magic.
Florina (Voiced by: Reina Ueda)
Florina is a Jumi with a flourite core. She is strong-willed, responsible, and self-sacrificing. She was previously elevated to the position of Jewel Princess and continues to be a healing presence for her people. Her whereabouts are currently unknown.
Diana (Voiced by: Manami Numakura)
Diana is a Jumi with a diamond core. She was a leader of the Glittering City where Jumi reside. Her whereabouts have been unknown since Florina’s disappearance and the collapse of the Glittering City.
Bud (Voiced by: Yuko Sanpei)
Bud is a boy who dreams of becoming a great magic user and is Corona’s younger twin brother. He used magic to wreak havoc in the town of Domina but surrendered before Shiloh’s power and began living with him and calling him “Master.” He carries a frying pan that is a memento of his mother’s.
Corona (Voiced by: Shino Shimoji)
Corona is a cheerful, lively, and sociable girl who is Bud’s older twin sister. She is quite reliable for her age. After a certain incident in Domina, she becomes Shiloh’s pupil together with Bud. She carries around a magical broom that is a memento of her father’s.
Duelle (Voiced by: Sachi Kokuryu)
Duelle is a mysterious onion knight. Judging from his skill, it’s clear that he has abundant experience as a swordsman. He has a big brotherly vibe and teaches others a variety of things. Shiloh even receives sword training from him.
Li'l Cactus (Voiced by: Yurika Kubo)
Li'l Cactus is a shy and quiet cactus who is cared for by Shiloh. He always listens to Shiloh’s adventuring stories, then invisions them and writes them down secretly in his journal. It’s a secret that he can actually walk.
