Synopsis

Dejiko and Puchiko are alien girls from the planet Di Gi Charat who have come to Earth. Hikaru has become a high school girl, and the Black Gema-Gema Gang continues to haughtily push forward down the path of evil. In the midst of all this bustling excitement, Brocco-desu, the goddess of the company Broccoli, and Bushirodo-no-Mikoto, the goddess of the company Bushiroad, enter the scene as new regulars. A new Di Gi Charat project finally begins, and there’s no telling what will happen!

Background

Di Gi Charat is a mixed media franchise created by Koge-Donbo. It began with the manga Gema Gema, which was serialized in From GAMERS and published by Broccoli Books from August 1998 to February 1999, and it has since gone on to be adapted into several manga, anime series, OVA, and audio dramas, as well as a wide range of merchandise including trading cards and video games.

Reiwa no Di Gi Charat is an upcoming TV anime being created to celebrate the series’ 24th anniversary. It is being produced by LIDEN FILMS and features Hiroaki Sakurai as director and Atsuko Watanabe as character designer. The anime’s theme song is "Aimaisa, Kofukuron" by Masami Okui. The anime will premiere in Japan on Oct. 7, 2022 on Tokyo MX and BS NTV and will later air on AT-X.

Characters

Di Gi Charat / Dejiko (Voiced by: Asami Sanada)
The first princess of planet Di Gi Charat who is giving it her all on Earth to become an actress. She is loyal to what she wants but sometimes overdoes it and fails. She helps out at Akihabara Gamers together with Puchiko. Her special skill is shooting beams from her eyes. She is 10 years old and loves broccoli.

Petit Charat / Puchiko (Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro)
Puchiko is Dejiko’s protege who is also from the planet Di Gi Charat. She goes at her own pace and can be sharp-tongued. She has a habit of saying “Nyu” at the end of her sentences. She is practicing being able to shoot beams from her eyes. She is 5 years old and loves rare steak.

Hikaru Usada / Rabi-en-Rose (Voiced by: Kyoko Hikami)
Hikaru is a poor high school girl. She aims to become an idol and works part-time at Akihabara Gamers. She sees Dejiko as her rival and acts high and mighty, but in reality she is a sweet, warmhearted girl. Her special skill is using her rabbit ears as propellers. She is 15 years old and loves sasa dango and kaki no tane.

Gema (Voiced by: Yoshiko Kamei)
Gema is a yellow, round creature and Dejiko’s chaperone who travels to Earth from the planet Di Gi Charat with her. They tend to add “Gema” to the end of their sentences. They are easily swayed by Dejiko and the others. Their age is unknown and they love broccoli.

Piyocola Analogue III / Piyoko (Voiced by: Megumi Hayashibara)
Piyoko is the leader of the Black Gema-Gema Gang. In order to help her home planet Analogue, she is trying to kidnap Dejiko and hold her for ransom. She lives together with Rik, Ky, and Coo, who are like family to her. Her special skill is firing a bazooka from her mouth. She is 8 years old and loves butter sandwich cookies.

Rik Heisenberg (Voiced by: Kousuke Toriumi)
Rik is the marshall of the Black Gema-Gema Gang. He always calmly thinks up evil plans, but he is also a veterinarian by trade and is kind to animals. He is like a father to Piyoko and watches over her. He is 26 years old and loves sushi and yakisoba.

Ky Schweitzer (Voiced by: Chihiro Suzuki)
Ky is the lieutenant general of the Black Gema-Gema Gang. She is a dentist and never forgets to check to make sure Piyoko brushes her teeth twice a day. She is like the group’s mother and takes care of the housework and finances. She is concerned about not standing out. She is 17 years old and loves sweet curry.

Coo Erhard (Voiced by: Tomo Saeki)
Coo is the Black Gema-Gema Gang’s major. She skipped grades and became a physician at a young age. She is childhood friends with Piyoko and speaks casually with her. The panda she always carries around with her seems to have sentimental value.

Brocco-desu (Voiced by: Satomi Akesaka)
Brocco-desu is the goddess of the company Broccoli. She is usually gentle, but when she gets switched on, she can start talking a mile a minute. She excels at planning and development of character goods and keeps an eye on Broccoli’s stock price.

Bushirodo-no-Mikoto (Voiced by: Ayasa Ito)
Bushirodo-no-Mikoto is the goddess of the company Bushiroad.
