OtapediaKamanue - Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)

Kamanue (釜鵺) was a member of the Twelve Demon Moons in the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) series, having held the new position of Lower Moon Six.

Appearance

Kamanue was a thin young man with an extremely pale skin, his face painted with a slight indentation of dark green under both his eyes and across his nose, which extended vertically into another, shorter horizontal line on his brow. Only four large dots were drawn on his cheeks at the far end of the line, the center of the one on his forehead and under his lower lip. His eyes were in profile, beast like, in shape, the pupils slit and the iris pale blue with a white ring around the sides, the kanji for ‘Lower Moon Six’ engraved onto the one on his right. Kamanue also had deep brown hair with bright orange tips that were swept back then fluffed out on either side of his head and arms. He wore a white haori down the sleeves with a yellow scale design, as well as a white button-up shirt and black hakama trousers.

Personality

Kamanue was a sensitive individual who had been constantly wearing a frightened expression that is probably due to the fact that he felt fragile and feeble as the lowest of the Lower Moons. During his short time at the Dimensional Infinity Fortress, he seemed steadily skittish, suggesting a nervous personality.

Functional Recovery Training Arc

Muzan emerges before them in his female form, after all the other Lower Moons assemble at the Castle. Of frustration he points at them and asks them to lower their heads and stand before him. Mukago utters after all of them that she's sorry she was asked to sit, because she didn't recognize Muzan in his present form. Muzan aggressively demands if she talks without authorization, asking her to quiet herself, and not to answer, unless she has asked a question explicitly. While she cowers at her knees in terror, Muzan goes on to explain Rui's passing, the only Lower Moon who wasn't among those assembled before him, and questions the remaining Demons why they are so weak.

Lecturing them, Muzan informs the lower ranks on how to be in the ranks of the Twelve Demon Moons is not the final stage; it's just the start of what is to come. He notes that their sole objective is to consume blood so they can be helpful to him. Muzan aggressively retorts that centuries have elapsed since the Upper Moons were last changed, yet the Lower Moons are all the same overtaken, to which Kamanue feels he can't just tell them that. Capable of reading the thoughts of those with whom he has exchanged blood, Muzan aggressively tells Kamanue why they should not be asking that, extending his arm into a tentacle to catch the Lower Moon by his throat and raise him into the air. Kamanue attempts to apologize, but is promptly eaten by Muzan as the rest of the Lower Moons keep their heads lowered in a shocked silence.

Demons in Demon Slayer

Demons come in a whole variety of types. At first, most demons will look normal, only with slight changes including paler skin, catlike eyes and oddly shaped sclera, black patterns that pass over their body in different designs, or a variation of hair. The modifications differ from Demon to Demon, as some Demons may still maintain their normal appearance while others acquire grotesque characteristics such as multiple limbs, horns, appendages, organs and even heads.
It has been known that the more people that a Demon has killed, the more physical modifications they are able to produce.

The first Demon was Muzan Kibutsuji, who is also said to have lived for thousands of years before the setting of the story. The one who transformed him into such a Demon was a benevolent Heian-period doctor who tried to save Muzan from death since he had been infected at the time with an illness which would destroy him when he reached Twenty. Muzan murdered the doctor before both could finish the procedure by having Muzan drink the final part of his "Blue Spider Lily" drug, out of desperation and belief that the medication might be ineffective and only cause him further pain.

Demons are not naturally born, but they replicate by being transformed from a person after being subjected to the blood of a very powerful Demon; only Muzan and his highest two Twelve Demon Moons, Doma and Kokushibo, have been seen to have this capacity.

Abilities and Powers

  • Demon Abilities - The power and skills of Kamanue as a Demon are little established, but it is believed that he must have been one of the strongest Demons to have made it into the Lower Moons, despite being the lowest possible position to hold in the ranks of the Twelve Demon Moons.
  • Growth potential - The power of a single Demon depends almost entirely as to how many humans they have killed, and they could also grow stronger by consuming extra blood through Muzan, which is how the Twelve Demon Moons acquired their immense strength. Though, certain Demons have a restriction on how much they can use to grow stronger, and may not be comfortable with a greater amount of
  • Immortality - Demons embody eternal life and can live for generations, if they are incredibly strong, sometimes even longer. They can not die by conventional methods, but can be killed by light from the sun or at one of the unique Nichirin Blades of the Demon Slayer Corps. Muzan's blood.
  • Regeneration - As one of the Lower Moons, he received a larger quantity of Muzan's blood compared to an average Demon, which then presumably gave him superior regenerative power in comparison to other lower demons.
