Kaijuu Girls: Ultra Kaijuu Gijinka Keikaku 2nd Season video 1

Also Known As

Kaiju Girls (TV 2)

Genre

Comedy

Synopsis

It has been several years now since the war between humans and masters has ended, and the world has entered an age of peace. Some girls, however, contain the souls of past monsters and are able to summon their monster forms, and these girls are called Monster Girls (or kaiju girls). In an attempt to collect these girls, an organization called GIRLS has been formed.

Background

Kaiju Girls: Ultra Kaiju Gijinka Keikaku 2nd Season is a part of the Ultra Kaiju Ginjinka Keikaku, or the Ultra Monsters Anthropomorphic Project, an anthropomorphism project by Tsuburaya Productions based on monsters and aliens from the iconic Ultra superhero series. Those monsters and aliens are turned into cute girls for the Kaiju Girls series.

This season is a follow-up to the first which aired from Sept. 27, 2016 through Dec. 13, 2016 with 12 episodes. The episodes are shorts which run less than 5 minutes, and the stories follow the misadventures of GIRLS rookies Agira (Aki Miyashita), Miclas (Miku Ushimaru), and Windom (Reika Shiragane), each of whom is based on Capsule Monsters from Ultraseven.

Anime Adaptation

This new season was announced in August 2017 by Tsuburaya Productions, and in addition to a few new names, all of the original staff and cast from the first season have returned for the sequel including director Minoru Ashina (also known for his work on Boku, Otaryman and Lord Marksman and Vanadis) and Team-MAX music composer Yasuharu Takanashi (Fairy Tail, Naruto). The concept for this season was also once again developed by screenplay writer Norimitsu Kaihou (Danganronpa 3, School-Live!).

The opening theme for this season is once again “Joujou↑↑GAO!!” by Capsule Girls (a name chosen in honor of Agira, Miclas, and Windom’s history as Ultraseven Capsule Monsters), and the ending theme is “Soul-ride ON!” by Agira, King Joe, and Alien Guts.

Season 2 includes 12 episodes and airs on Tokyo MX. It’s also available for streaming on Docomo’s service dAnime Store, as well as Crunchyroll.

Characters

Main Characters
Agira / Aki Miyashita (CV: Riho Iida)
A simple girl who chooses her words carefully and isn’t fond of standing out. She isn’t one for hobbies or daydreaming, either. She worries about looking mean or sleepy.

Miclas / Miku Ushimaru (CV: Aina Suzuki)
A super energetic and cheerful girl who hasn’t even caught a cold since the day she was born. She moves before thinking, operating using entirely muscle memory. She’s a big fan of the hand-to-hand combat sport Dai-Kaiju Fight (Great Monster Fight) in which monster girls fight against each other.

Windom / Reika Shiragane (CV: Yurika Endou)
Windom takes everything seriously and is a very intelligent girl. Deep down, though, she’s also a hardcore otaku and yaoi character with an endless amount of love for her favorite characters.

Other Characters
Pigmon / Okada Tomomi (CV: Sora Tokui)
Pigmon manages to be both a leader-type for GIRLS and an idol-type. She goes at her own pace no matter who she’s facing, and while she always has a smile on her face, she’s also strong to the core when she needs to be.

Zetton (CV: Emiri Katou)
The absolute ruler of Dai-Kaiju Fight, and the strongest fighter in GIRLS. She’s so famous that everyone in the world knows her name, but she’s also mysterious with overwhelming restraint and impregnable walls around her.

Red King / Benio Utagawa (CV: Hiromi Igarashi)
Red King is one of the strongest fighters in Dai-Kaiju Fight, and she’s earned a lot of fans with her special fighting style. Truthfully, though, she’s incredibly sweet and has an adorable amount of curiosity.

Eleking / Ran Kogami (CV: Megumi Han)
One of the seniors of Agira and the others. She’s cool and not bothered by much, and she’s also a huge fan of yaoi.

Gomora / Mikazuki Kuroda (CV: Ayaka Suwa)
A newcomer to Dai-Kaiju Fight who’s been attracting a lot of attention. She’s a talker who can come across as blunt and occasionally oblivious. She used to live in Osaka, so she occasionally speaks with a Kansai dialect.

Zandrias / Sachiko Dori (CV: Kaede Yuasa)
Zandrias grew up in the country, but she was taken care of by Red King and is now training to join GIRLS. Maybe she’ll overcome her rebellious phase soon…?

King Joe / Clala Thorn (CV: Suzuko Mimori)
King Joe was born in America, and she attracts everyone’s attention with her beauty. She’s an extremely positive type who doesn’t let herself get weighed down with details.

Alien Guts / Miko Innami (CV: Risae Matsuda, Satsumi Matsuda)
A talented girl who can handle any task granted to her with ease, but she’s also a workaholic who lets herself get a little too wrapped up in her work.

Noiseler / Misao Otonashi (CV: Arisa Kiyoto)
A member of the GIRLS Public Entertainment branch. She enjoys listening to music, and her favorite genre is rock. She’s pretty calm overall, but hit it off with the rebellious Zandrias and they decided to form a band.

Maga-Basser / You Kazamaki (CV: Haruna Terada)
A brand new apprentice who just came into GIRLS. She’s able to fly, and everyone around her is excited to see the full potential of this ability. She’s still a bit childish, though, and wants to have fun.

Maga-Jappa / Yuka Tatsunami (CV: Reina Kondo)
Like Maga-Basser, Maga-Jappa just joined GIRLS as an apprentice. She has a gentle personality and gets nervous easily. When she gets nervous, she also has a tendency to sweat a lot. She loves relaxing in the bath.
