Background
First published as a web novel, Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest is a Japanese light novel series written by Ryo Shirakome (白米 良) and illustrated by Takayaki which began in 2013. It also has a manga adaptation which began being serialized on Overlap’s Comic Gardo website since 2016. Both are still ongoing. In addition, an audio drama was released and another is coming in April 2018. An anime adaptation is also set to premiere in 2019. The series has been licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. The novels are licensed in English by J-Novel Club. The series ranked in as the 27th best-selling light novel series in the first half of 2017, with 84,372 copies sold.
Synopsis
Hajime Nagumo is your typical 17-year-old otaku boy until his entire class is summoned to a fantasy world and treated as heroes with the responsibility of protecting humanity against extinction. While the rest of his class receive godlike magical powers, Hajime can only do one transmutation as a Synergist. To make it all worse, he’s left for dead during a dungeon raid. Will he survive not only the ridicule of his fellow classmates, but also being so weak in a dangerous world of monsters?

Anime Adaptation
Studio White Fox is handling the anime adaptation expected to premiere in 2019, delayed from April 2018. It will broadcast on Tokyo MX, AT-X, and possibly other channels. As of February 2018, international streaming hasn’t be announced.
