Synopsis

In the year 2031, a quantum reactor accident drastically changed the world. This became known as the “Xianglong Crisis.” The sudden flash erupting from underground enveloped the city’s buildings and everything around it, which resulted in the birth of B.R.A.I., unknown creatures born from the fusion of living organisms and machinery.

Seven years later, Xianglong is reborn as the city of ultimate defense, Neo Xianglong, one of humanity’s last hopes against the B.R.A.I., whose alarmingly fast evolution has left mankind on the brink of extinction.

Guided by fate, Leon, Chloe, Queenie, and Doug arrive to Neo Xianglong, where they join the defense army alongside Cecil, Cain, Jay, and Glen, forming the special task force Pandora. Thus, the battle for mankind’s survival begins!

Characters

Leon Lau (CV: Tomoaki Maeno)
An exiled scientific genius who was one of the key figures triggering the Xianglong Crisis. Since the incident, he’s been living day-by-day in the wastelands outside Neo Xianglong with Chloe under a “family pact.” He’s a man of few words, but he can talk really fast when it comes to his interests, research and food.

Chloe Lau (CV: Nao Toyama)
Leon’s little sister, connected by a “family pact.” Although they are not related by blood, Chloe thinks of Leon as her own brother. She’s a bright girl who is not scared of anything and does her best to support her brother, who can be rather sloppy at times.

Queenie Yo (CV: Kana Hanazawa)
A bounty hunter and exceptionally skilled boxer who trained in mountain forests, Queenie is seeking strength. She lost everything dear to her and is on the road to take vengeance.

Doug Horvat (CV: Kenjiro Tsuda)
A sniper with a love for women and cats, Doug is a mood-maker who smiles and cracks jokes all the time, but when sniping, his eyes turn sharp and cold, like a predator hunting for its prey. He works as a bounty hunter and never goes anywhere without his cat.

Glen Ding (CV: Yuma Uchida)
After losing his family in the Xianglong Crisis, he enlisted in the defense army as a volunteer and reached the rank of Captain. He joined the fight to avenge his family, but his wrath hasn’t dulled even after years of fighting.

Jay Yoon (CV: Yuichiro Umehara)
Leon’s former schoolmate, Jay has been serving under Cecil as a secretary since before the crisis. He thinks of Leon as a rival, but since the crisis, he’s watching him with growing suspicion. He always keeps a cool head.

Cain Ibrahim Hassan (CV: Unsho Ishizuka)
The central pillar and commanding officer of Pandora, Cain is a former mercenary from a private military company. He has a strong sense of duty and empathy, and always looks after his subordinates. He has a serious addiction to Japanese pepper.

Cecil Soo (CV: Ai Kayano)
A young but talented governor, Cecil rose to the mayor’s seat after her father’s death during the Xianglong Crisis. She is also the commander of the defense army.

Keywords

Neo Xianglong
One of the ultimate defense cities that stand in the way of humanity’s extinction. Although it was ground zero of the Xianglong Crisis, the accident had no influence on the city or its residents. Thanks to the reactor still working on low output and rich gas deposits in the area, citizens could keep their higher than usual living standards. It also has larger military forces compared to other cities, making it a safe haven that refugees living in the surrounding slums can only dream of.

Ultimate Defense City
The country’s framework collapsed after the Xianglong Crisis, resulting in the devastation of all but a few dozen cities. These are called Ultimate Defense Cities, large cities that are capable of supplying themselves with energy and are equipped with armies and facilities to defend against the B.R.A.I.

Xianglong Reactor (Quantum Reactor)
A multidimensional reactor developed as the next generation of green energy. It overheated during a running experiment carried out by Leon Lau in 2031, causing the widespread emergence of B.R.A.I. Its inner construction is highly classified.

Xianglong Crisis
An accident caused by the meltdown of the Xianglong Reactor that resulted in the emergence of B.R.A.I. worldwide and destroying the framework of countries.

B.R.A.I. (Biological Revolutionary of Artificial Intellect)
Creatures that evolved from a fusion of living beings (including plants but not humans) and machines. Their size can range from millimeters to more than a 100 meters in height. The latter are especially dangerous to humans as they destroy cities in their way or located in their domain.

MOEV (Multipurpose Organic Evolution Vehicle)
A general term for variable units that were being developed by an international business community before the Xianglong Crisis, MOEV were put to practical use after the crisis with the inclusion of B.R.A.I. parts and are widely used in humanity’s fight against the B.R.A.I.

Bounty hunter
Freelance mercenaries who use their piloting skills to hunt down B.R.A.I. for large sums. Only those who sign a contract with a city’s defense forces and are granted a license can work as bounty hunters. Pilots buy their vehicles from the army and customize them, making each of them unique.
