Nakiri Ayame - VTuber

Nakiri Ayame is a member of Hololive’s 2nd Generation and, after her original debut in September 2018, has earned herself a name in the Hololive and greater VTuber community as a whole with her cheerful personality and infectious laughter.

Nakiri Ayame Background

Like every other member that is managed by Hololive, Nakiri Ayame is a VTuber that primarily streams on YouTube. While these streams can consist of anything from karaoke, collaborations with other VTubers, and so on, many of Ayame’s streams have her playing online multiplayer games like APEX Legends, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Minecraft.

Nakiri Ayame History

Nakiri Ayame made her first appearance as a VTubers on September 3rd, 2018. This debut was streamed on YouTube, which continues to be Ayame’s primary platform to this day. On May 17th, 2019, she revealed her 3D model via a special stream on her channel. In November that year, Ayame also reached 100,000 subscribers on her channel and received her first alternate outfit. Much like the other members that joined Hololive early on, Ayame also got an updated Live2D model, which was shown off on July 31, 2020. By the end of 2020, Ayame’s channel would get a significant boost of popularity, as it went from 100,000 subscribers in 2019 to over 600,000 by the end of 2020.

Nakiri Ayame Physical Description

Nakiri Ayame is a young Oni (a type of Japanese demon) girl with vibrant red eyes, a pair of long horns that sprout from her head, and long white hair that fades to a light shade of red toward the bottom. Her main outfit consists of a red Oni mask that she wears on top of her head and an intricate traditional Japanese-style dress. This dress is colored red, black, and gold and shares some aspects of a kimono that are fused with more Western features like ruffled sleeves. Ayame also wears two swords behind her back, which are named Ashura and Rasetsu.

Her first alternate outfit consists of a casual white and black Western-style dress with detached sleeves that expose her shoulders. The collar of the dress has a blue ribbon tied around it while the rest of the dress is accented with pink buttons and patterns that match well with the pink highlights and gradient found in Ayame’s hair. The red Oni mask Ayame usually wears is also swapped for a ruffled hairband with black bows on it.

Nakiri Ayame Personality

Although Oni are known for being incredibly vicious and violent toward other people in Japanese culture, Ayame is almost a perfect antithesis to the stereotypical Oni. She is often described as incredibly kind, calm, and level-headed. She may be fairly introverted when it comes to speaking to others, but other members of Hololive have mentioned how easy she is to get along with. During her streams, she can be quite giggly, a trait that many viewers have come to adore. She also can be quite competitive whenever playing games like APEX Legends and often becomes quiet as she concentrates on defeating her enemies.

Associated Company

Nakiri Ayame is a member of Hololive Productions, a VTuber agency that is owned by Cover Corporation and manages over 50 individual VTubers, including globally popular VTubers like Gawr Gura (Gauru Gura), Inugami Korone, and Usada Pekora, among others. Aside from each members’ streaming activities, Hololive Productions plans various events and collaborations that involve many of the VTubers that they manage. One such example is “Hololive 2nd fes: Beyond the Stage*, a live, 2-day concert that took place on December 21st and 22nd, 2020, and featured nearly every member of Hololive’s Japan branch at the time.

Notable Series

Although many of Ayame’s streams involve her playing APEX Legends, some of her most popular streams are her 3D Rhythm Heaven Fever stream and the various streams she hosts as a member of FAMS (and, by extension, OKFAMS).

3D Rhythm Heaven Fever Stream

While this stream was a one-off playthrough of Rhythm Heaven Fever, it features Ayame using her 3D model, something that is often reserved for special streams and specific occasions like anniversaries and birthdays. Possibly due to the use of her 3D model, this is currently one of Ayame’s most popular streams on her channel. The stream itself simply has her playing through the game from start to finish, which took her around five hours to do. Shirakami Fubuki was also featured as a guest and offered commentary for both Ayame and her viewers.

Collaborations with FAMS/OKFAMS

FAMS is a group of Hololive members that consists of Shirakami Fubuki, Nakiri Ayame, Ookami Mio, and Oozora Subaru. At times, Nekomata Okayu and Inugami Korone also join the FAMS, creating the OKFAMS subgroup. Most of the time, FAMS streams consist of playing multiplayer games like Phasmophobia, Left 4 Dead 2, and Ultimate Chicken Horse, though FAMS also has several streams where they simply chat with the audience. FAMS has also teamed up against other groups within Hololive like OKBR (Okayu, Korone, Shishiro Botan, and Yukihana Lamy in friendly competitive matches in games like Splatoon.
