Takanashi Kiara - VTuber

Takanashi Kiara is an English, German, and Japanese-speaking VTuber that is a member of Hololive English. Due to her fluency in both English and Japanese, she often acts like a bridge between the Japanese and English-speaking viewers of Hololive, making her an invaluable member of her VTuber agency.

Kiara is a phoenix VTuber that streams a variety of content on their channel but is most known for her “Holotalk” series and her various game streams.

Takanashi Kiara History

Like with the other members in Hololive English, Kiara was introduced in an announcement video that was uploaded to the official Hololive Twitter and subreddit on September 9th, 2020. Several days later, Kiara would make her individual YouTube debut on September 12th. Within the next 24 hours, she would reach over 100,000 subscribers, which is quite an achievement for a YouTube channel that had just made its debut. This swift growth would only continue for Kiara, as she reached 600,000 subscribers and released her first original song, “Hinotori”, by the end of the year. On December 9th, Kiara’s channel was erroneously taken down by YouTube. After a short period of time, her channel would be restored and Kiara would poke fun at the situation by holding a second debut. For Valentine’s Day 2021, Kiara would release her second original song, “Heart Challenger”. As of April 2021, Kiara’s channel has over 900,000 subscribers.

Takanashi Kiara Physical Description

Although she has allegedly changed forms throughout her various incarnations as a phoenix, Kiara currently resembles a human girl with shoulder-length orange, blue, and green hair and purple eyes. Her main outfit consists of an orange, white, and blue top with a short orange skirt, a pair of white thigh-high socks, and detached sleeves. Aside from her uniform, Kiara also wears two different hats on her head: an orange and black cap and a miniature chef’s hat. The badge on her chest can also transform into a futuristic sword and shield that matches her color palette. To match her background as the owner of her own restaurant chain, Kiara also has a pair of chicken drumsticks that she can hold in each hand when she so desires.

Kiara may currently only have one outfit as of April 2021, but she and the other members of Hololive English received fully rigged chibi versions of their avatars on April Fool’s Day. These models were drawn by Walfie, an artist that went viral in the Hololive community for creating chibi-style drawings and short animations of various VTubers from Hololive.

Takanashi Kiara Personality

When watching one of her streams, one of the most distinguishing aspects of Kiara’s personality is her bubbly cheerfulness and playful antics. Many may consider her to be chaotic and rambunctious at times, but Kiara is a very hard-working individual that deeply cares for her peers and viewers. That said, she does have a wild side to her that makes itself known from time to time. This is made especially apparent whenever she gushes about the less wholesome aspects of a given character’s design, which has led some to label her as a bit of a pervert. She is particularly affectionate when it comes to Mori Calliope who, despite her attempts to dodge Kiara’s advances on stream, seems to reciprocate some affection off-camera.

Although she is a member of Hololive English, German is Kiara’s first language, and has a tendency of using it in her streams. She is very fluent in English, but there are times when she says something with nuances she does not intend, leading to some unintentionally comedic moments. That aside, her Japanese is the best in all of Hololive English and is often called upon to act as a translator when Japanese Hololive members are present.

Hololive Production is a Japan-based VTuber agency that manages over fifty individual VTubers from various parts of the world. Although its Japanese branch is Hololive’s largest group and includes popular VTubers like Inugami Korone, Houshou Marin (Marine), and Shirakami Fubuki, it also has groups for Indonesian and English-speaking areas of the world as well. As of April 2021, Hololive English has four members excluding Takanashi Kiara herself: Watson Amelia, Gawr Gura (Gauru Gura), Ninomae Ina'nis, and Mori Calliope. Auditions for the second wave of members in Hololive English have concluded, meaning that more members are likely to join the group in the future.

While Kiara often streams games like Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Minecraft, and Atelier Ryza, some of her most popular videos include her “Holotalk” series.

Holotalk

Holotalk is Kiara’s talk-show-style program where she brings a weekly guest onto her channel and asks them questions sent in by fans. These guests are from Hololive’s Japanese speaking branch and Kiara acts as a medium that translates the English questions into Japanese and her guest’s Japanese responses back into English. The resulting streams have helped the English-speaking fans learn more about Japanese-speaking VTubers like Hoshimachi Suisei, Aki Rosenthal, Yozora Mel, Sakura Miko, and Oozora Subaru.
