Shirogane Noel - VTuber

Shirogane Noel is a female knight VTuber from Hololive Japan’s 3rd Generation, also known as Hololive Fantasy. With her kind, caring personality and unwavering determination to see things through to the end, she has gathered a devout fan base and following in the VTuber community.

Although Noel streams a variety of different kinds of content, she is known mainly for her game streams. That said, she has also hosted English learning streams and many ASMR streams that, due to her calming voice and relaxing demeanor, have become some of her most popular on her channel.

Shirogane Noel History

Although Noel would make her official YouTube debut on August 8th, 2019, she would first introduce herself on her Twitter account a week earlier on August 1st. Her Twitter introduction allowed Hololive fans to find her channel before she even debuted, leading to Noel reaching over 10,000 subscribers before her first stream. On November 17th, Noel would reveal her 3D model and simultaneously reach 100,000 subscribers on her channel. At the beginning of January 2020, Noel would be one of the Hololive members that would temporarily lose monetization on their channels due to YouTube’s unusually strict treatment of VTuber ASMR content. She would later regain monetization at the end of the month. Throughout 2020, Noel’s YouTube channel would continue to rapidly expand, going from approximately 150,000 subscribers at the end of 2019 to over 700,000 by the end of 2020.

Shirogane Noel Physical Description

Shirogane Noel is a young woman with shoulder-length silver hair and green eyes. Her main outfit is heavily inspired by a stereotypical fantasy adventurer’s gear and includes a cream and navy blue-colored battle-friendly dress that is fitted with various pieces of black and gold metallic armor. This armor covers part of her shoulders, chest, and both of her arms and legs. Her main outfit also comes with a thick leather utility belt and a mace that she usually keeps hanging to her side.

Noel also has several alternate outfits that she has received throughout her career. The first is her New Year’s dress, which consists of a blue kimono that is decorated with a variety of different flowers and patterns. This kimono is also tied with a dark blue obi that is accented with green. In this outfit, her hair is also worn tied up and is decorated with a pair of white and blue flowers. Her second alternate outfit is a casual Western-style dress. This outfit has Noel wearing a short-sleeved cream-colored top that is tucked into a dark skirt. It also includes a pair of matching glasses and a small purse that Noel wears across her shoulder.

Shirogane Noel Personality

As her knightly character might imply, Noel is a determined and hardworking young woman who always tries her best at whatever she does. To emphasize the powerful knight side of her character even more, she likes portraying herself as a musclehead that loves meat in general but specifically gyudon (beef bowls). Her determination also shows through quite often when she plays games. This can be seen particularly well in her Getting Over It streams, where she manages to push through her mounting frustrations to complete the game. That said, she also has a feminine side that she is not afraid to show as well. When talking with her viewers, she is generally shown as being calm, patient, and accepting. Noel is also incredibly close with Shiranui Flare and can be incredibly protective of her when others end up becoming a bit too friendly.

Shirogane Noel is a member of Hololive Production, a VTuber agency that manages over 50 individual VTubers from around the world. The Motoaki “Yagoo” Tanigo, the CEO of the agency’s parent company Cover Corporation, founded the agency after being inspired by the success of virtual characters like Kizuna Ai and Hatsune Miku as well as idol groups like AKB48. As a member of Hololive 3rd Generation, Noel also debuted along with other popular VTubers like Usada Pekora, Shiranui Flare, Houshou Marin (Marine), and Uruha Rushia.

Although Noel plays a variety of games like Minecraft, Dragon Quest XI S, and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, some of her most popular streams feature her playing Getting Over It and Monster Hunter Rise.

Getting Over It

Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is a short, skill-based platforming game that is notorious for being overly difficult and punishing players for making seemingly small mistakes. Due to the nature of the game, reaching the end is often seen as an impressive accomplishment and has become somewhat of a rite of passage for many VTubers. Many have attempted to beat the game, but eventually, give up after becoming too frustrated. Noel, however, showed her sheer perseverance by not only working through her frustration to beat the game once, but coming back and imposing even tighter restrictions like time limits on herself in subsequent streams.

Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise is a game that quickly spread through the Hololive community after its release on the Nintendo Switch on March 26th, 2021. Shortly after on April 3rd, Noel held her first stream of the game and noted that it was her very first experience with the series overall. Currently, Noel’s main weapon is the hammer, which fans found somewhat ironic due to its bulky, heavy-hitting play-style and the fact that the default hammer looks like the mace that Noel keeps to her side.
