About Pikachu

Pikachu is a mouse-like electric type Pokemon. It evolves from a baby Pokemon, Pichu with high friendship and evolves into Raichu when exposed to a thunderstone. Due to its cute and distinct design, Pikachu serves as the franchise mascot.

Background

When Ash Ketchum overslept on the first day of his Pokemon journey, he received a wild Pikachu as his first Pokemon. Although the two clashed at first, eventually Ash and Pikachu formed a deep emotional bond. Together they travel the world as Ash aims to become the world's greatest Pokemon master. Like Ash, Pikachu possesses a confident, assertive attitude. However, Pikachu can be more realistic than Ash when facing a powerful opponent, often comically surrendering before the battle. As the sole continuing member of Ash's team, Pikachu serves as the de facto leader of his Pokemon teams.

Abilities

As an electric type Pokemon, Pikachu's strengths lie in special attacks and its high speed. Powerful special based attacks for Pikachu include Thunderbolt, Discharge, and Thunder. Pikachu can also weaponize its speed with the move Electro Ball, an attack that becomes more powerful the higher the user's speed stat is compared with the target. Pikachu can also use their species signature move, Volt Tackle. Pikachu surrounds its body with electricity and charges as the target at extreme speeds and deals massive damage. However, the user also takes recoil damage at 1/3 of the damage dealt.
