Synopsis

Video-game-loving shut-in Kazuma’s life comes to an end all too soon when he is killed in a traffic accident. Unexpectedly, he is reincarnated in an RPG-like fantasy world, where he is dragged into the life of an adventurer. There, he forms a party with a troublemaker and dimwitted goddess named Aqua, an archwizard with a penchant for explosions and a bad case of chunibyo named Megumin, and a masochist crusader named Darkness. One day, a Crimson Demon girl named Yunyun rushes in and drops a bombshell announcement on Kazuma and the others: She wants to have Kazuma’s babies! Hearing her out, she tells them that her and Megumin’s hometown, Crimson Demon Village, is about to face imminent destruction. Kazuma and the party agree to help save the village, but little do they know they’re about to face their biggest threat yet!

Characters

Kazuma (Voiced by: Jun Fukushima)

A 16-year-old video-game-loving shut-in, Kazuma is killed in a traffic accident on his way home from buying a video game one day and awakens to find himself reincarnated in an RPG-like fantasy world. Though his crucial stats are average, he has high intelligence and luck. He becomes an adventurer and forms a party with Aqua and later Megumin and Darkness. Though his initial quest is to defeat the Demon King, he just wants to make enough money to live comfortably as a lazy bum.

Aqua (Voiced by: Sora Amamiya)

The goddess of water and an archpriest, Aqua brings Kazuma to the fantasy world and is dragged into his party after mocking his death. She has high stats in magic but very low intelligence and luck. As a result, she often rushes into situations without thinking through the consequences, and she’d rather spend her skill points learning useless tricks than skills that will actually help the party. As an archpriest, she is powerful against demons and the undead, and can revive those recently deceased.

Megumin (Voiced by: Rie Takahashi)

A 13-year-old archwizard and part of the Crimson Demons race, Megumin is a powerful archwizard with a penchant for explosions. She has a bad case of chunibyo and refuses to learn any other spells other than the one explosion spell she knows, which immediately depletes her mana and incapacitates her whenever she uses it.

Darkness (Voiced by: Ai Kayano)

An 18-year-old crusader, Darkness is powerful in both offense and defense, but she usually whiffs her attacks. Her real name is Lalatina Ford Dustiness and she is a noble from the influential Dustiness family who becomes a crusader against her father’s wishes. A masochist at heart, she dreams of being ravaged by the Demon King and takes pleasure in insults that are thrown her way. To onlookers, she may seem heroic and dignified, but her “heroic” acts are only to satiate her masochistic desires.

Yunyun (Voiced by: Aki Toyosaki)

Megumin's former classmate, Yunyun is the daughter of the Crimson Demons' chief. Unlike Megumin, she doesn’t suffer from chunibyo, which causes her to be ostracized by her chunibyo peers. She is a highly skilled archwizard who forms a rivalry with Megumin.

Komekko (Voiced by: Maria Naganawa)

Megumin’s younger sister, Komekko is 5 years old and looks like a smaller and younger version of Megumin. She has an insatiable appetite and is always searching for food. She respects her older sister and shows promise as an archwizard, and Megumin thinks she will grow up to be someone great.

Vanir (Voiced by: Masakazu Nishida)

A general to the Devil King, Vanir is a demon of foresight who can read anything about anybody. Prior to taking over Wiz’s magic shop in Axel, he turns a previously cleared dungeon into his hideout, luring adventurers in with the prospect of finding treasure for defeating him, only for them to find a slip of paper mocking them instead.

Luna (Voiced by: Sayuri Hara)

A receptionist in the Axel guild, Luna assists adventurers in registering for the guild and provides them with quests. Though she is attractive and busty, she is kept too busy by her work to pursue any romantic interests.

Wiz (Voiced by: Yui Horie)

A powerful lich wizard and a former general to the Devil King, Wiz is timid and kind and uses her powers to help civilians and escort lost spirits to the afterlife. She also runs, albeit unsuccessfully, a magic shop in Axel which is later taken over by Vanir.

Ruffian (Voiced by: Tetsu Inada)

A conspicuous man who is tall, burly, and sports a mohawk, Ruffian resides in Axel and tends to show up at important times. It is later revealed that he is a simple artisan weaver.
