Evangelion Toys - Merchandise
Evangelion is a series that has gone on to inspire many creators and anime fans for many years. Even though it first aired in Japan in October 1995, its complex characters, confusing narrative, and interesting mecha and Angel designs have kept people talking about the series nearly 25 years later. While fans have created wonderful examples of analysis, theories, fanart, and cosplay all on their own, companies around the world have continued producing merchandise like figures, apparel, and toys for fans to enjoy as well. With the revitalization of the series in recent years due to the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series and its addition to Netflix in 2019, Evangelion gained the attention of an entirely new generation of fans, creating a new demand for merchandise. Toys, while not the most popular form of merchandise, still come in an incredible variety that is sure to suit anyone’s personal tastes. Some of the most popular toys currently available include the “Evapacassos + NERV HQ Plushie Set (Jumbo)”, the “Rebuild of Evangelion Unit-13 (Re-run)” model kit, and the “Evangelion Original Jigsaw Puzzle: Rebuild of Evangelion Sushio x Eva Part 3”.
Evapacassos + NERV HQ Plushie Set (Jumbo)
This set of three adorable Evangelion themed alpacas by Amuse are each inspired by the three main Evangelion Units and even includes the pyramid-shaped NERV HQ. Each plushie has its own unique set of colors and features from their respective Evangelion Unit. For example, the Eva-01 Evapacassos has purple fur, green ears and feet, a horn on its head, and patches on each side designating it as Eva-01. Likewise, the other plushies are colored yellow and red for units Eva-00 and Eva-02 respectively. These soft and huggable plushies are each around twelve inches tall, which makes them great decorations or dolls. The NERV HQ plushie is collapsable and displays the NERV logo on its top. This plushie also has an opening that can fit part of an Evapacaso in it.

Rebuild of Evangelion Unit-13 Model (Re-run)
This model by Kotobukiya recreates the incredible Evangelion Unit-13 from the third film in the Rebuild of Evangelion series. This model comes in many different pieces and must be assembled by the user, much like a “gunpla” model. It also comes completely pre-painted, meaning that users do not have to worry about buying specific paints or brushes to complete this model. While some may be hesitant to delve into such an intricate hobby, others enjoy the satisfaction of building a model from scratch. After the model is completed, it can act as a fully articulated figure and has a variety of different parts to allow for a wide variety of poses. Pieces to switch the regular model to its four-arm mode are included. Two spears that can be fused into one, a variety of different hands, and Eva-13’s AT Field effects and unique drone weapons are also included as well.

Evangelion Original Jigsaw Puzzle: Rebuild of Evangelion Sushio x Eva Part 3
This 500 piece jigsaw puzzle is one of several puzzles that feature original art created by Sushio, a well-renowned animator and character designer that has worked on anime projects like Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, and the Rebuild of Evangelion movie series. The art itself has Rei wearing glasses and a sleek black swimsuit enjoying a dish of shaved ice as she gazes at the audience. The background features a wide variety of characters and references from the series for fans to recognize. Some examples include the Angels Zeruel and Lilith, Asuka lounging on a beach chair and umbrella, Eva-02, the pyramid-shaped NERV HQ, and Lilith’s Black Moon. Although some may enjoy putting this rather large puzzle together, others might simply want this piece of merchandise simply for its unique and stylish artwork. Either way, both parties should find a great deal of enjoyment in this puzzle.

About Evangelion
After the series’ original debut in 1995, fans quickly took notice of its interesting characters and raw, emotionally driven narrative. Characters like Shinji Ikari, Asuka Langley Shikinami, and Rei Ayanami became instantly recognizable to fans of both the series and anime in general. The powerful humanoid mechas known as Evangelion Units also became quite popular due to their importance to the story and their appealing design. As such, quite a large amount of merchandise inspired by Evangelioncharacters and mechas were created, resulting in a variety of products that covers a wide range of preferences and tastes, like those previously mentioned above. Despite being nearly 25 years old, fans continue enjoying Evangelion and its plethora of merchandise around the world.
