Legend of Zelda Amiibo - Merchandise
The Legend of Zelda series is an incredibly popular video game franchise that was originally created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka. Its first game was released on the Famicom (NES outside of Japan) in 1986 and has since produced dozens of other entries in the main series, spin-offs, and other types of media. Since the series has created such a devout fan-base, an equally large amount of merchandise has been created to help satisfy their fans’ desire for Legend of Zelda based goods. These items range from artbooks and figures to apparel, cosplay, and much more. One particularly popular form of merchandise, however, is Nintendo’s line of amiibo. Although the amiibo can simply act as figures, they can also interact with many different Nintendo games to unlock several different features in-game, giving them a sense of functionality as well. There have been dozens of amiibo based on the main protagonist, Link from the Legend of Zelda series, and some of them have been selected and showcased below.
Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Rider Link Amiibo
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Rider Link Amiibo is an amiibo that features Link as he appears in the most recent entry of the Legend of Zelda series, Breath of the Wild. Link is depicted wearing a navy blue hood over his head as he brandishes a sword in one of his hands. He also wears his Champion’s Tunic, a light blue shirt with beige pants that is one of the iconic outfits from the game. Other details like his leather boots and straps running around his chest are also recreated in great detail. In this amiibo, Link rides on top of a dark brown horse that is rearing on its hind legs. The mane and tail of this horse are black, white its hooves slowly fade into white. A number of straps are wrapped around the horse, showing that it is trained and domesticated. The pose of the figure gives it an intense and action-oriented feel to it, as Link appears ready for battle as the rearing horse intimidates his enemies.

Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Daruk Goron Champion Amiibo
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Daruk Goron Champion Amiibo is based on the Goron Champion from Breath of the Wild, Daruk. Like most Gorons, Daruk doesn’t wear much in terms of clothing. He wears a loincloth around his waist and his Champion’s Tunic across his chest. Also running across Daruk’s chest is a chain with the symbol of the Gorons on it. This amiibo of Daruk also shows him wearing a pair of bracelets on his wrists as he holds his trusty Boulder Breaker over his shoulder. The Goron Champion also has a white beard and a full head of hair, a unique characteristic among Gorons in Breath of the Wild. Daruk also shares many traits of the hardy Goron race, like his rock-solid build. Daruk’s legs are also incredibly small when compared to his giant torso and arms, giving the character a strange set of proportions. That said, Daruk stands proudly and has a big smile on his face, as if he were in the middle of a laugh.

Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Mipha Zora Champion Amiibo
The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Mipha Zora Champion Amiibo is based on the popular Champion from Breath of the Wild, Mipha. Mipha is a member of the Zora race, an aquatic group that has many fish-like features. Mipha herself is colored red and white, a unique trait only shared by herself and her brother, Sidon. She is also decorated with various pieces of beautiful jewelry made with silver and gold and set with sapphires, denoting her noble heritage. The headpiece that Mipha wears also contains the symbol that represents the Zora race, which can be traced back to the Zora’s Sapphire from Ocarina of Time. She also wears her light blue Champion garb as she stands elegantly with her silver Lightscale Trident held behind her back, further adding to the beauty of the amiibo figure.

About The Characters
The incarnation of Link from Breath of the Wild is the Hyrulian Champion and guardian of Princess Zelda until he is put to sleep for 100 years to recover from his injuries. After waking from his comatose state, he has lost all of his memories, including those of Zelda and his fellow Champions. That said, he knows he has one mission, to defeat Calamity Ganon. Mipha is the Zora Champion and the princess of the Zora race. She has known Link before they both became Champions. Daruk is the Goron Champion and has a rather excitable personality, especially in combat.
