Synopsis
Heroes Taishakuten and Bonten together with 13 buddhas must defend the world against the evil Mara who is attempting to get revenge on Shaka Nyorai for preciously saving the world through achieving enlightenment.
Background
Inspired by the popular game, Namu Amida Bu! -Rendai Utena- was announced by DMM Games through a launch event at a temple Tokoji in Saitama in August 2018. The first season of the TV anime will debut on April 8, 2019.
The opening theme for the first season will be “Amauta” by Masaaki Mizunaka, while Chippoke Ohashi will perform the ending theme, “Ruby.”
Characters
Taishakuten (Voiced by: Masaaki Mizunaka)
Along with Bonten, Taishakuten protects the Buddha. He is a sincere person who speaks little but has a compassionate heart. He loves sweet things and particularly likes Kusa Dango.
Shaka Nyorai (Voiced by: Showtaro Morikubo)
Shaka Nyorai is a buddha who previously attained enlightenment. He sent the 13 buddhas to save the world from suffering.
Ashura O (Voiced by: Tatsuhisa Suzuki)
Ashura is the buddha who protects justice.
Dainichi Nyorai (Voiced by: Tetsuya Kakihara)
Dainichi Nyorai is a buddha who regards himself as the master of all of space. The ring of light on his back stores power that can be used to reduce evil in the world.
Bonten (Voiced by: Tomoaki Maeno)
Bonten protects the Buddha along with Taishakuten. He is clever, calm, and collected. His favorite food is rice pudding.
Miroku Bosatsu (Voiced by: Ayumu Murase)
Miroku Bosatsu is a buddha who achieved enlightenment an eternity ago and has promised to save mankind. Chatty and possessing great self-confidence, he is the Buddha’s successor. His favorite food is beef.
Amida Nyorai (Voiced by: Daisuke Hirakawa)
Amida Nyorai is a buddha of unlimited light. He acts as an advisor for the Buddha. His trademark is his red scarf.
Fudomyo O (Voiced by: Kengo Kawanishi)
Fudomyo O is a wise king able to lead even the worst souls to the path of the Buddha. His favorite food is curry.
Kokuzo Bosatsu (Voiced by: Kisho Taniyama)
Kokuzo Bosatsu is a buddha with infinite memory and the power of perception. His favorite food is pumpkin tempura.
Seishi Bosatsu (Voiced by: Kohei Amasaki)
Along with his brother Kanon, Seishi Bosatsu cares deeply for the other buddhas. His hobby is muscle training and his favorite foods are protein and his brother’s onigiri.
Monju Bosatsu (Voiced by: Ryuichi Kijima)
Monju Bosatsu is the buddha of wisdom.
Fugen Bosatsu (Voiced by: Shun Horie)
A buddha with a beautiful, feminine face, Fugen Bosatsu finds everything a bother. He has a habit of bothering Monju and his favorite food is bananas.
Jizo Bosatsu (Voiced by: Taku Yashiro)
Jizo Bosatsu is the familial “jizo” buddha many will be familiar with. He may look severe but has a kind and caring heart. Jizo is also very modern and addicted to social networks on his smartphone!
Kanno Bosatsu (Voiced by: Yuma Uchida)
Kannon Bosatsu has a kind heart and takes on a maternal role to the other buddhas.
Ashuku Nyorai (Voiced by: Yusuke Kobayashi)
Ashuku Nyorai is the Buddha of the Eastern Pure Land. She loves cute things and understands women’s hearts. Her key color is pink.
Karuraten (Voiced by: Daiki Yamashita)
Karukaten is a sacred bird who can eat people’s suffering.
Mara (Voiced by: Takeo Otsuka)
Mara is the personification of worldly desires. He wants to dominate mankind to create the world he hopes for.
Yakushi Nyorai (Voiced by: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka)
Yakushi Nyorai is a buddha with the power of healing. He likes sunshine and white rice.
