Synopsis
Shy novelist Subaru Mikazuki has no luck with people but begins to open up when he decides to adopt a stray cat he names Haru and starts writing the story of their life together from each of their perspectives.
Background
Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue is adapted from the manga written by Minatsuki with illustrations by As Futatsuya. The anime adaptation was announced in August 2018 and the first season will premiere on Jan. 9, 2019. The opening theme will be "Unknown World" by Schrödinger's Cat ft. kotringo, while Yoshino Nanjo will perform ending theme, "Kimi no Tonari Watashi no Basho.”
Characters
Subaru Mikazuki (Voiced by: Kensho Ono)
Subaru Mikazuki is a shy author of mystery novels who struggles to communicate with people. He lost his parents when they were killed in an accident whilst travelling. A chance encounter with a stray cat fired up his creative instincts and he decided to adopt it.
Haru (Voiced by: Haruka Yamazaki)
Haru is a stray cat with a mean look in her eye. After a chance meeting with Subaru she began living with him.
Nana Okami (Voiced by: Chika Anzai)
Nana Okami works in the pet shop and advises Subaru in his new life as a cat owner. She has two cats of her own called Roku and Hachi.
Hiroto Yasaka (Voiced by: Shun Horie)
Hiroto Yasaka is a childhood friend of Subaru’s. He may look a bit unrefined but is sociable and looks out for Subaru whose parents have passed away.
Atsushi Kawase (Voiced by: Hiro Shimono)
Atsushi Kawase is Subaru’s editor and is able to get along fine with him even though he is not good with people. He really loves cats and is very fond of Haru.
Yugo Okami (Voiced by: Yoshiki Nakajima)
Yugo Okami is Nana’s younger brother and is in his second year of high school. He is also a fan of Subaru’s novels.
Hachi (Voiced by: Ayumu Murase)
Hachi is Haru’s younger brother and lives with Nana.
Roku (Voiced by: Kenjiro Tsuda)
Roku is a cat who was already living with Nana when she decided to adopt Hachi.
Haru Akimoto (Voiced by: Yoshino Nanjo)
Haru Akimoto is a classmate of Narumi’s whose family own a Chinese restaurant.
Taro (Voiced by: Tomokazu Sugita)
Taro is a dog belonging to Sonoko, Subaru’s elderly neighbor.
Nagisa Yasaka (Voiced by: Hisako Tojo)
Nagisa Yasaka is Hiroto’s 17-year-old younger sister.
Tora-nee-san (Voiced by: Megumi Toyoguchi)
Tora-nee-san is a “big sister” type cat.
Kuro (Voiced by: Daisuke Ono)
Kuro is cat with a scar over his left eye.
