Synopsis

Dreaming of being hula girls, first-year middle school student Suzu and her classmate Fumi start a hula club but quickly run out of momentum and end up lazing about every day. However, they are reinvigorated when other girls who all share the same dream start attending the club, including a transfer student from Finland named Mona. Now, the girls begin their struggle-filled days as they practice hard to make their dreams of becoming hula girls come true.

Background

Hulaing Babies is an original anime produced by Fukushima Gaina. The anime will feature short 5-minute episodes and will premiere in Japan on Jan. 10, 2019 on TV Tokyo.

Characters

Suzu (Voiced by: Haruka Yoshimura)

An energetic and cheerful girl who always tries her best. She starts the Hulaing Babies in order to liven up her town. She is easily swayed by Mona.

Shiina (Voiced by: Rikako Yamaguchi)

The peacemaker of the group, Shiina has a cool, adult-like attitude and is very tolerant of others.

Mona (Voiced by: Suzuko Mimori)

Originally from Europe, Mona moves to Fukushima when her father transfers jobs.

Fumi (Voiced by: Mikoi Sasaki)

Intelligent and hardworking, Fumi is the one the other girls look to for guidance in times of trouble. Though she is bad at dancing, she joins the group at Mona’s request.

Nagisa (Voiced by: Bridcutt Sarah Emi)

A slender girl with a candid personality, Nagisa is often mistaken for a boy. She is positive minded and doesn’t sweat the small stuff.

Moe (Voiced by: Moe Toyota)

Moe plays ukulele in a music group called Ukulele Babies along with Miku.

Miku (Voiced by: Miku Ito)

Miku plays in a music group called Ukulele Babies along with Moe.
