Synopsis

Set in Hoshimi City, Hoshimi Production is a small entertainment agency that is looking for new idol talent to follow up their previous successful idol, Mana Nagase, who a few years prior had blown up the charts. The story follows a group of 10 aspiring idols including Mana’s younger sister, Kotono, and a girl named Sakura Kawasaki who has a singing voice just like Mana, who all begin living together and training to become top idols.

Background

Idoly Pride is an idol-themed multimedia project created by CyberAgent subsidiary QualiArts, Straight Edge, and Music Ray'n, and features character designs by QP:flapper. The project will span several forms of entertainment including anime, video games, and music. The anime is the first project from anime studio CAAnimation and features Yu Kinome as director and Sumie Kinoshita as chief animation director, with Tatsuya Takahashi handling series composition, and music by Kazuya Saka (Wicky. Recordings), Takayuki Tonegawa (Wicky. Recordings), and Yuuki Nara (F.M.F). It is scheduled to premiere on Jan. 10, 2021 on Tokyo MX and other channels.

Hoshimi Production

Mana Nagase (Voiced by: Sayaka Kanda)
After her debut, Mana quickly gained popularity and became known as the "Miracle from the Stars.” She has excellent singing and performance skills as an idol, and has a remarkable passion for live performances.

Kotono Nagase (Voiced by: Mirai Tachibana)
Kotono is a rookie idol with a passion that belies her cold exterior. She aspires to become an idol just like her older sister, Mana. She aims for the top and is strict with herself and others. She isn’t very sociable and has few friends.

Sakura Kawasaki (Voiced by: Mai Sugano)
Sakura is a skilled singer just like Mana. She has a habit of making decisions based on the whims of her heart, which led her to joining Hoshimi Production. She is innocent and has a certain charm that attracts others.

Rei Ichinose (Voiced by: Moeko Yuki)
Rei is a cool girl who loves to dance and is exceptionally skilled. She spares no effort to become the best and she also demands the same level from those around her, which often causes conflict.

Nagisa Ibuki (Voiced by: Kokona Natsume)
Nagisa became an idol in order to support her best friend, Kotono. She has a calm and devoted personality and often supports those in need.

Haruko Saeki (Voiced by: Nao Sasaki)
Haruko is a generous and kind older sister type who always has a smile on her face. She is always considerate of those around her and supports her friends from behind the scenes. She is the oldest of the girls at Hoshimi Production.

Saki Shiraishi (Voiced by: Koharu Miyazawa)
Saki is an honors student with a strong personality. She wants to become an idol in order to fulfill her childhood dream. She is the leader of the group and takes good care of the other girls, but she can sometimes be too serious for her own good.

Chisa Shiraishi (Voiced by: Kanon Takao)
Chisa is a timid and shy girl who often relies on her older sister, Saki. She joins Hoshimi Pro in order to become more extroverted. She has a good sense of fashion and coordinates outfits for Saki

Suzu Narumiya (Voiced by: Kanata Aikawa)
Suzu is a confident and free-spirited girl who is loved by everyone even though she has a pompous attitude. She is a huge fan of Mana and collects all her CDs and merchandise.

Mei Hayasaka (Voiced by: Moka Hinata)
Mei is a curious girl who follows her intuition. She is athletic and has good performance skills. She has a cheerful and friendly disposition that often puts others at ease. She loves cats and often plays with strays she finds on the street.

Shizuku Hyodo (Voiced by: Yukina Shuto)
Shizuku is a taciturn girl who loves idols and has accumulated a wealth of knowledge about them, which she uses to try and become an idol herself. Due to her lack of physical strength, she struggles with dance and basic training.

Kouhei Makino (Voiced by: Haruki Ishiya)
Kouhei is the manager of the idols of Hoshimi Production and is the same age as Mana. He is a good-natured person who won’t turn down a request. Although he doesn't’ have any outstanding abilities, he supports the idols as best he can.

Shinji Saegusa (Voiced by: Rikiya Koyama)
Shinji is the president of Hoshimi Production. He used to work for a major car company but became independent and set up his own company in Hoshimi City. He has an aloof demeanor and thinks he’s something special.

Vamp Production

Rui Tendo (Voiced by: Sora Amamiya)
Rui is one of the most skilled young singers and dancers. Those around her often describe her as a genius, but in reality she works hard and practices more than anyone else. She has a strong desire to surpass Mana and become a top idol.

Yu Suzumura (Voiced by: Momo Asakura)
Yu is a cheerful, calm, and good-natured girl who speaks in a Kyoto dialect. She has known Rui since before her debut and is fascinated by her.

Sumire Okuyama (Voiced by: Shiina Natsukawa)
She is a hard worker with a strong personality that is hard to believe for a junior high school student. She used to be a child actress, but turned into an idol. She is polite and serious, but her personality sometimes causes her to get tired.

Sumire is a hardworking girl with a strong personality. She used to be a child actress before setting her sights on being an idol.

Rio Kanzaki (Voiced by: Haruka Tomatsu)
Rio is an intense and prideful girl who has the skills to back up her confidence. She sees Mana as a rival and is obsessed with beating her.

Aoi Igawa (Voiced by: Ayahi Takagaki)
Aoi is a cool and free-spirited girl who isn’t afraid of anyone and always speaks her mind. She has been practicing dance for a long time, and even Rio is impressed by her skills.

Ai Komiyama (Voiced by: Minako Kotobuki)
Ai is a genuinely dedicated and hardworking girl. She often takes jokes seriously due to being too meek, and is often teased by Kokoro for it. Although she is a talented idol, she is often clumsy and sometimes makes embarrassing mistakes.

Kokoro Akazaki (Voiced by: Aki Toyosaki)
Kokoro is a cheerful and innocent girl who charms audiences with her cuteness. However, she has a sharp tongue and a hidden devilish side.
