Synopsis

The Wixoss card game has become a worldwide phenomenon, and players can now battle as LRIG in the virtual space Wixossland. In Wixossland, “Diva Battles” are carried out in which teams of three compete for the highest number of fans, called “Selectors.” First-year high school student Hirana Asu is determined to become a legendary diva and forms her own team called No Limit in order to compete and realize her dreams.

Background

Wixoss Diva(A)Live is an original TV anime produced by J.C.STAFF that is based on the popular trading card game series Wixoss released by Takara Tomy. It is the fifth Wixoss anime in three years and is based on the Selector series (Selector Infected Wixoss and Selector Spread Wixoss) and the Lostorage series (Lostorage Infected Wixoss and Lostorage Conflated Wixoss. It features a new worldview and brand new characters with a story that focuses on team battles.

The anime was announced in March 2020 and features Masato Matsune as director with Ui Shigure handing character designs, Tamai☆Go handing series composition, and Maiko Iuchi composing the music. It premiered on Jan. 8, 2021 on Tokyo MX and BS11, and is available to stream overseas through Crunchyroll.

Characters

No Limit

Hirana Asu / Hirana (Voiced by: Saya Fukuzumi)
Hirana is the protagonist of the series and the leader of No Limit. She is a first-year student in high school and has looked up to the legendary divas of Diva Battle since she was young. She has a positive and optimistic personality.

Rei Sakigake / Rei (Voiced by: Haruka Shiraishi)
Rei is a member of No Limit and a well-known diva in Wixossland. She is calm and cool-headed but has a lot of passion in her.

Akino Onko / Akino (Voiced by: Shizuku Hoshinoya)
Akino is a member of No Limit who becomes a diva after being persuaded by Hirana. She has a deeper knowledge of and thirst for Wixoss than anyone else.

Card Jockey

Nana Nekozawa / MC.Lion (Voiced by: Nozomi Ishida)
Nana is the leader of Card Jockey. She has a bubbly personality and adds “nya” to the end of her words.

Mimi Usakawa / DJ.Lovit (Voiced by: Yuuki Hirose)
Mimi is a member of Card Jockey and is Nana’s childhood friend. She often acts as the voice of reason for her team.

Rara Inumiya / VJ.Wolf (Voiced by: Rena Hasegawa)
Rara is a member of Card Jockey and is a rational girl who always wants to make the most strides in the shortest amount of time, including in battles.

Uchu no Hajimari

Dr. Tamago / Dr. Tamago (Voiced by: Ayumi Mano)
Dr. Tamago is the leader of Uchu no Hajimari and is a genius scientist who developed a high-performance learning AI called Bang.

Koeru Nobagoshi / Nova (Voiced by: Kotone Watanabe)
Koeru is a member of Uchu no Hajimari and also works with Dr. Tamago at his university lab.

Big Bang / Bang (Voiced by: Asami Mizukami)
Bang is a member of Uchu no Hajimari and is an AI developed by Dr. Tamago that excels at situational analysis and data management.

Diagram

Muzika Yotogi / Muzica (Voiced by: Lamalfa Michelle Tateyama)
Muzika is the leader of Diagram. She is the daughter of a famous family and is quite prideful.

Madoka Maka / Madoka (Voiced by: Rui Tanabe)
Madoka is a member of Diagram and an ordinary high school girl who loves to dance.

Sanga Shinonome / Sanga (Voiced by: Sayumi Watabe)
Sanga is a member of Diagram and is the team’s chief strategist. She has a vindictive personality and will stop at nothing to achieve victory.

Kyurukyurun☆

Mikoto Fujishima / Mikomiko (Voiced by: Eri Yukimura)
Mikoto is the leader of Kyurukyurun☆. Despite her appearance, she is cunning and will stop at nothing to win.

Maho Umetsu / Mahomaho (Voiced by: Erisa Ichihara)
Maho is a member of Kyurukyurun☆ who always wears a backpack.

Yukari Yanagi / Yukayuka (Voiced by: Rise Moritomo)
Yukari is a member of Kyurukyurun☆ and is the most mature-looking of the group.

Azami manages the card shop Heaven’s Door.
