Synopsis
Set between the events of Fate/Zero and Fate/stay night, Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note follows Lord El-Melloi II, formerly known as Waver Velvet, as he investigates mysteries after the Fourth Holy Grail War.
Background
Written by Makoto Sanda and illustrated by Mineji Sakamoto, Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files: Rail Zeppelin Grace Note began as a Japanese light novel series serialized first in Type-Moon Books from December 2014 to May 2019. Makoto Sanda wrote the manga adaptation with illustrations by To Azuma which began serialization in Young Ace in October 2017, which continues to date. The anime adaptation by Troyca is set to premiere in July 2019 written by Ukyo Kodachi, directed by Makoto Kato, with music by Yuki Kajiura. ASCA will be performing the series’ ending theme song. Streaming overseas has been announced by Aniplex of America, Crunchyroll, and AnimeLab. A stage play adaptation of the novel is set for Winter 2020.

Lord El-Melloi II (Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa)
Lord El-Melloi II is the main character of the series. He was first introduced as Master of Rider, Iskander in Fate/Zero during the Fourth Holy Grail War. In this series he returns to the Clock Tower to continue learning magecraft. He teams up with a mysterious person named Gray to investigate strange mysteries involving magic around London.
Gray (Voiced by: Reina Ueda)
Gray is a mysterious girl who used to live in the country before she moved to Britain. She is slowly starting to transform into the appearance of that of Artoria Pendragon.
Melvin Waynes (Voiced by: Daisuke Hirakawa)
Melvin Waynes is a magician with a weak body that often bleeds. He’s an old friend of El-Melloi and is the only one who calls El-Melloi Waver Velvet, his former name.
Add (Voiced by: Daisuke Ono)
Add is the form of the Holy Spear Rhongomyniad. It can transform into a Scythe for Gray to weird as a weapon. It is extremely talkative.
Reines El-Melloi Archisorte (Voiced by: Inori Minase)
Reines El-Melloi Archisorte is Kayneth’s younger niece and the true successor for the El-Melloi Household.
Svin Glascheit (Voiced by: Seiichiro Yamashita)
Nicknamed “le chien” by Flat due to his wolf-life sense of smell and speed, Svin Glascheit is skilled at Modern Magecraft, of which he is a student of Lord El-Melloi, as well as Beast Magecraft.
Flat Escardos (Voiced by: Yoshitsugu Matsuoka)
Flat Escardos is smart but dimwitted student of Lord El-Melloi.
Caules Forvedge Yggdmillennia (Voiced by: Yusuke Kobayashi)
Caules Forvedge Yggdmillennia is the oldest heir of the Forvedge family and another student of Lord El-Melloi.
