OtapediaODDS and ENDS (song by Hatsune Miku)

"ODDS&ENDS" was released on February 27, 2013 was produced by ryo. Its theme parallels ryo's own story of being a composer and Vocaloid producer. It describes someone unknown and his struggles of being recognized, but then with the help of Hatsune Miku's voice, they can overcome barriers together.
The music video features a tiny robot carrying a television screen that shows Hatsune Miku through the room where the band supercell is performing and follows its journey to become a part of Hatsune Miku herself.
Upon its initial release, fans expressed their love of the song and video over the wave of emotions felt within a short time of following the robot's journey. Within the first 24 hours of its release on YouTube, the video had gained over 100,000 views and was posted on various social media sites such as Twitter (both Japan and overseas) and Reddit (Western fans). Many fans covered the song whether by singing or playing its wonderful piano melody. Additionally, Western fans began singing English covers of the song, some with fan-translated lyrics available online while others sang with their interpretation of those lyrics.

The CD release of ODDS&ENDS consisted of an original illustration of Miku weather a darker shade of orange, matched with a lighter shade of orange in the background. Though the CD package was rectangular in shape (odd for its time), the CD proved popular among die-hard fans, with many praising the design for its uniqueness.

"ODDS&ENDS" quickly gained 1,000,000 views on ryo's YouTube account and prior to SONY's upload being removed had gained a collective 3 million views. Many of the comments welcomed ryo back to the Vocaloid world, stating that they had missed his absence and that his return with such a beautiful song was "just like ryo".

Kanji Romaji Translation
いつだって君は嗤われ者だ itsudatte kimi wa warawaremono da You’re always the one being laughed at
やることなすことツイてなくて 挙句に雨に降られ yaru koto nasu koto tsuite nakute ageku ni ame ni furare Everything you do, you’re bad at; and to top it off, it then starts to rain
お気にの傘は風で飛んでって okini no kasa wa kaze de tondette And the wind blows away your favorite umbrella

Interpretation

This autobiographical song tells of the connection created between a singing synthesizer and a person who was hated by the world. Namely, ryo’s meeting with Miku, and her voice becoming the vessel for his words. Once he had obtained fame he abandoned composing through Miku, becoming an artist himself instead. Nevertheless, he felt a solitude, and was accused of abandoning the roots that got him to where he is now.
At the end of the song’s story, the composer couldn’t find a way to save the machine and cried in denial, even as the outcome he had desired came to fruition. This final song became the last time she sang to express his feelings of sadness and joy.
