OtapediaViva Happy (song by Hatsune Miku)

"Viva Happy" (ビバハピ), was released on July 26, 2013, and was composed by Mitchie M. The song is his 7th work, and like many of his other works, is notable due to his extremely realistic tuning of Hatsune Miku's voice, which results in a sound that is extremely similar to the original voice actor, Saki Fujita's, voice. In order to maximize the characters of Fujita's voice, the song is tailored like the opening of an anime song but also includes sections where Miku raps along. Its catchiness appeals to many fans and the song is often used to show new fans what the Vocaloid software can achieve on a technical level.

The song reached its first million views on September 8, 2013, and has since gained 4.8 million views on Nico Nico Douga and 12.4 million views on YouTube. It has subsequently entered the Hall of Legend and is one of Mitchie M's and Hatsune Miku's most notable songs. The song's video clip comprises of various Hatsune Miku MikuMikuDance models dancing and rapping along with the music. The song has been covered by fans all over the world and in many cases, Mitchie M will leave a comment to thank them for covering his song.

The song has been featured in various rhythm games such as Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA- Arcade where it is a popular selection for fans to play.

Producer's Comments

I challenged to tune Hatsune Miku's voices like a Japanese anime voice actor. Please enjoy the song and MMD anime. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this :D.
Viva Happy has appeared at Hatsune Miku Magical Mirai, HATSUNE MIKU EXPO, and Hatsune Miku x Kodo Taiko Performing Arts Ensemble (2017)/Special Live 2018.

Interpretation

Viva Happy is an extremely cutesy, feel-good song. The music video features appearances from multiple popular and cute MMD versions of Hatsune Miku, although the last MMD Hatsune Miku model appears to be the main character. The music video features bright, cheerful colors and sparkling imagery as well as cute, slightly nonsensical lyrics, with the main chorus of “Viva Viva Happy (chu lu chu chu)” being sung repeatedly.

As the song’s title, which can be translated to “Live Happily”, suggests, the main message of the song is to be happy. Miku sings that even if you’re sad or down, even if someone gets mad at you or you have to do something that you don’t want to, you should still try to get along with others, love yourself for who you are and be happy.

Some people may say life isn’t easy or the world won’t treat you kindly, but you can still pursue your own dreams, which is the general message of the song. Rather than this song featuring a character going through these struggles, it is a song directed at those beyond the screen, who may have a hard day or are going through rough times in their lives. With that in mind, it becomes easier to understand the nonsensical non-sequitur segments which feel like the song, rather than a report from a fictional character, is a fictional character’s attempt to give energy and cheer to a real person through its silliness and passion.

The issues it addresses aren’t specific, being able to reach from young people in school all the way to young office workers, but it does distinctly target the youth, slightly antagonizing adults and the restraints they wield to control irregular elements in society, such as lazy lectures about how the real world is.
