Synopsis

High school girl Akari “Gekko-chan” Sawake has finally purchased a dummy head microphone and is about to step into the world of ASMR. At the same time, her classmate Shusui “Akimizu-chan” Kagami, who wants to become her friend, gets her hands on a dummy head microphone too and begins researching ASMR. Then there’s Gekko-chan’s older sister Yoko-san, who finds her dummy head microphone, and her mom Udoku. Not to mention, Nanako and Kanako, your little sisters who plan to use ASMR to win you back from Gekko-chan. The exciting days of seven people who come across ASMR begins, with you as the protagonist!

Background

180-byo de Kimi no Mimi wo Shiawase ni Dekiru ka is an original short TV anime themed after ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response). The anime is being produced by EKACHI EPILKA (Crossing Time, Girlfriend, Girlfriend, Tokyo Revengers) and INDIVISION and features Yoshinobu Kasai (Battle Game in 5 Seconds, Demon Lord, Retry!, Z/X Code Reunion) as director and Takayuki Noguchi (Angel's 3Piece, Cinderella Nine, Ro-Kyu-Bu!) as character designer.

The anime, which presents the viewer as the protagonist, is being created in order to convey the appeal of this new avenue of entertainment content that since 2020 has exploded in popularity, especially among the younger generation. Each 5-minute episode will convey a different aspect of ASMR in an easy-to-understand way and will use realistic sounds including ear scratching, breathing, whispering, squeezing, ice and water, typing, and other everyday sounds used in ASMR, letting viewers enjoy a variety of different pleasing sounds in 180 seconds.

The anime will premiere in Japan on Oct. 15, 2021 on Tokyo MX.

Characters

Akari Sawake (Voiced by: Shiori Mikami)
Nicknamed Gekko-chan. She is a high school girl and your childhood friend. You two were close and had sleepovers as kids but drifted apart after entering high school. When she finds out that you’re into ASMR, she buys a dummy head microphone and starts researching ASMR.

Shusui Kagami (Voiced by: Suzuko Mimori)
Nicknamed Akimizu-chan. She is Gekko-chan’s classmate. She is a hard worker who isn’t very good at making friends, so she has been reading self-help books about making friends and studying them every day. She sees ASMR as a chance to get closer to Gekko-chan.

Hikari Sawake (Voiced by: Azumi Waki)
Nicknamed Yoko-san. She is Gekko-chan’s older sister. She works as an OL and lives alone in a one-room apartment. She likes to relax at the end of the day by drinking coffee made from beans she grounds in a coffee mill. She often visits her parents during holidays.

Udoku Sawake (Voiced by: Kanae Ito)
Gekko-chan and Yoko-san’s mother. Now that her two daughters have grown up, she doesn’t know what to do with herself. She has a gentle and sweet personality.

Kanako (Voiced by: Aoi Koga)
Your sister and a self-aware brocon to the max. When she finds out about Gekko-chan, who has been getting closer to you recently, she begins a plan to get you back using a dummy head microphone.

Nanako (Voiced by: Yu Serizawa)

Jiro (Voiced by: Sho Hayami)
Akimizu-chan’s father. He worked as a bartender in Shibuya from the ‘90s into the 2000s, but he’s actually not much of a drinker. Though he’s a languid lone-wolf type, he also has a sweet side.
