Synopsis

“Even though I’m the singing sister...I want to do it.”
Shoji Fujimoto is a single father who one day meets a woman named Minami Takasaki outside of work. On TV, she is the host of a children’s educational program, but in private, she isn’t even allowed to fall in love. When he realizes how lonely she is, he begins to fall for her, but any scandal could mean the end of her career. So begins a mature love story between a single dad and a songstress.

Background

Showtime! Uta no Onee-san Datte Shitai began as a manga series by Mai Girigiri that began serialization on the comic website ComicFesta in August 2020 and is published under the Mens Screamo imprint.

A TV anime adaptation is being produced by Picante Circus (Crazy Over His Fingers, Even a Dad Still Wants It…, Sweet Punishment -I'm the Guard's Personal Pet-) and Suiseisha (Adults Dunno How to Love!, Fire in His Fingertips 2 -My Boyfriend is a Fireman-, A Hot Night With My Boss in a Capsule Hotel) with animation production by Rabbit Gate. Staff includes Saburou Miura (Battle Athletes Victory ReSTART!, I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying, My Matchmaking Partner is a Student, An Aggressive Troublemaker) as director and scriptwriter, Ken'ichi Hamazaki (Interspecies Reviewers, Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector, Viper GTS) as character designer, and LAZZ (I Want to Be His Prey, Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki) as chief animation director. Minami Takasaki will sing the anime’s theme song, "Cafe Latte Koi Gokoro."

Similar to other ComicFesta anime (now known as AnimeFesta), it will be broadcast in two versions: an "on-air version" and an explicit “premium version.” However, it will feature the same voice cast for both versions, unlike previous ComicFesta anime. The “premium version” will premiere ahead of the on-air version at midnight on Oct. 3, 2021, with the “on-air version” premiering an hour later (effectively 1:00 am on Oct. 4) on both Tokyo MX and BS11.
