Synopsis

Kyoya Hashiba is a 28 year old who works as a video game director. But when his company goes under and his project falls through, he is forced to move back in with his parents. After waking up from a long nap, he is shocked to find that somehow he has gone back in time 10 years to when he was just starting university and choosing between taking the safe route and going to a business school or pursuing his dream and going to an arts school! Having been given the chance to do it all over again, he chooses art school and begins living in a shared house together with four other aspiring students as he starts to rebuild his life to create the reality he’d always dreamed of. Together with his quirky classmates, his new life starts now!

Background

Remake Our Life! is a light novel series written by Nachi Kio and illustrated by Eretto that has been published by Kadokawa’s Media Factory under their MF Bunko J imprint since March 2017. As of November 2020, eight volumes have been published. The series placed sixth in the literary category of “Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi!” in 2018 and seventh in 2019. A spin-off series titled Remake Our Life! ver.β is also published under the same imprint and has been released in three volumes as of April 2021.

A manga adaptation illustrated by Bonjin Hirameki has been serialized on Kodansha's Niconico-based webcomic service Suiyobi no Sirius since November 2018 and also began serialization on the webcomic site and manga app Magazine Pocket in September 2019. As of November 2020, four four collected tankobon volumes have been published.

An anime adaptation was announced in December 2019. The series is being animated by feel and features Tomoki Kobayashi as director with Nachi Kio handling scripts, Kosuke Kawamura handling character designs, and Elements Garden composing the music. The anime’s opening theme song is "Koko kara Saki wa Uta ni Naranai" by Poppin' Party, and the ending theme song is "Kanosei" by Argonavis. The anime will premiere in Japan on July 3, 2021 on Tokyo MX, BS Kyoto, BS NTV, and Sun TV. The first episode will be an hour long.

Kyoya Hashiba (Voiced by: Masahiro Ito)
A 28 year old working for a video game company who is suddenly sent back in time 10 years to when he was an incoming university student. He decides to enroll in the visual arts department at an arts university and begins living in a shared house in Kitayama. Though he has no outstanding talent, his experience and personality make him a good director.

Aki Shino (Voiced by: Aoi Koga)
Kyoya’s roommate and classmate. Her nickname is Shinoaki. She grew up in the countryside and has a gentle personality. She loves to draw and tends to get absorbed into it so much that she stops paying attention to what’s going on around her. She is small in stature but has a big personality and has a lot going for her.

Nanako Kogure (Voiced by: Aimi)
Kyoya’s roommate and classmate. Her nickname is Nanako. She may look like a girly girl, but she is surprisingly reserved. She isn’t very good at standing in front of people. She has no particular goal in mind and came to the university to find herself. She likes to sing and often goes to karaoke.

Eiko Kawasegawa (Voiced by: Nao Toyama)
Kyoya’s classmate. She is an honors student with a strong passion and talent for crafting things. She hates to lose and sees Kyoya as a rival. She has no trouble speaking her mind, but she also has a caring side. She sometimes advises Kyoya.

Tsurayuki Rokuonji (Voiced by: Haruki Ishiya)
Kyoya’s roommate and classmate. Though he appears to be carefree and doesn’t take things seriously, he is very particular when it comes to “making something good.” He shows glimpses of his talent in his scenario production class. He doesn’t like to talk about his birth.

Genkiro Hikawa (Voiced by: Hidenori Takahashi)
Kyoya’s friend and a member of the Ninjutsu Research Club. He enjoys playing bishoujo games.
