Figuarts Zero One Piece Commander of the Whitebeard 2nd Division Portgas D. Ace Figure

This figure of Ace shows him battle-worn, but not yet defeated. He is posed using the powers given to him by the Flame-Flame Fruit to fly into the air and launch a devastating punch empowered by his fire. His body has multiple scratches and scrapes on it and his face shows a great deal of strain, hinting that he may be up against a powerful foe. The base of the figure also has flames erupting from it and also acts as a way to connect Ace’s body to the base, allowing him to appear like he is floating in the air.

This rendition of Ace also shows him in the middle of combat. Ace leaps into the battlefield as he reaches back to prepare a punch with a fist made of fire. His torso also twists around, truly making it seem that this attack has Ace’s full weight behind it. This figure also has an incredible amount of fire swirling around Ace in wonderful detail.

About Portgas D. Ace

Ace was the commander of the 2nd Division of the Whitebeard Pirates and the sworn brother of both Luffy and Sabo. The following is a short overview of his character.

Background

As the son of Gol D. Roger, Ace was entrusted to Monkey D. Garp prior to Roger’s execution and eventually met Garp’s grandson, Monkey D. Luffy. Although the two had a rough start, they eventually became best friends. Ace then leaves his hometown and becomes a pirate. Although he first creates his own crew, he later joins the Whitebeard Pirates. After being captured by Teach and given to the Marines, Luffy and the Whitebeard Pirates attempt to free Ace and eventually succeed. Unfortunately, however, Ace sacrifices himself to save Luffy from the Marine Admiral, Akainu.

Special Abilities

Like his father, Gol D. Roger, Ace has superhuman amounts of strength, even before he consumed the Flame-Flame Fruit. As a child, Ace was easily able to defeat Luffy, who had already obtained his Gum-Gum Fruit. After gaining the Flame-Flame Fruit, however, Ace became able to create, control, and turn into fire. While this can augment one’s physical attacks, it also allows one to easily dodge as well, since most attacks will simply pass through fire.

Other Important One Piece Characters

Two notable characters with connections to Ace include Sabo and Gol D. Roger. The following is a brief look at their characters.

Sabo

Sabo is a former noble who renounced his status and befriended Ace and Luffy while he was still a child. After being found by his noble family, Sabo was forced to flee on a ship, which was then destroyed, leading to Luffy and Ace believing that he had died. In reality, Sabo survived and was discovered by Monkey D. Dragon, Luffy’s father and the leader of the Revolutionary Army. Although Sabo had lost his memories, he knew he did not want to return to his parents and decided to stay with Dragon. Eventually, Sabo became his second-in-command.

Gol D. Roger

After sailing the entirety of the Grand Line and reaching Laugh Tale, Gol D. Roger was named the Pirate King. Unknown to much of the world, however, Roger was suffering from an unknown disease and was bound to die soon, which led him to turning himself into the Marines to be executed. Before this, however, Roger entrusted Ace to Monkey D. Garp, as he wanted his son to be free of his own sins and crimes. Although Ace would come to detest his father, he would stand up against those who would slander his name, even after Roger’s death.
