Synopsis

In This Corner (and Other Corners) of the World follows the story of Rin, Shusaku, and Sun about 10 years before and after the bombing of Hiroshima during World War II with the most focus on years 1944-45.The film shows the nature and traditional culture of Japan during this time. Though a fictional work, it is based on facts, real events, old photos, documents, and the recollections of living people. This extended version will focus further on the relationships between Rin, Shusaku, and Suzu. There will also be a portion about the Makurazaki Typhoon that hit Japan soon after World War II ended. The perspective for this extended version of the original film In This Corner of the World is to show “several more lives” affected by the war and adapt more scenes from the manga.
