Synopsis
Our Seven-Day War follows the story of when every boy in the first-year class of a downtown Tokyo middle school goes missing the day before summer vacation begins! Unsure if they’d been kidnapped or if there was an accident, adults go looking, so schoolgirls decide to help the boys who are actually starting a revolution against the adults and are hiding out in the “Liberation Zone” - an abandoned factory on a riverbed! The story is a social satire mystery and is set in 2020.
Background
Our Seven-Day War is based on the original novel of the same title written by Osamu Soda and published in 1985. It also inspired a live-action film in 1988 as well as manga in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Gene. The animation production is being done by Ajaido. The staff includes director Yuuta Murano, scriptwriter Ichiro Okochi, and character designer Hiroshi Shimizu.
Characters
Mamoru Suzuhara (Voiced by: Takumi Kitamura)
Mamoru Suzuhara always has his head in a book. He knows a lot about history, military science, and makes up for his lack of socialization as a loner by being a supportive member of a chat group of people with similar interests. He has a crush on his neighbor and childhood friend, Aya Chiyono.
Aya Chiyono (Voiced by: Kyoko Yoshine)
Aya Chiyono is beautiful but hasn’t let it go to her head. She is polite and kind, having had a good upbringing. Her father is a politician who decided to move the family to Tokyo, despite all her resistance, just a week before her 17th birthday.
Kaori Yamazaki (Voiced by: Megumi Han)
Kaori Yamazaki is the daughter of a construction worker and member of the track team who cares deeply about justice and her best friend, Aya Chiyono.
Soma Ogata (Voiced by: Tatsuhisa Suzuki)
All the girls swoon over Soma Ogata who is a laidback student but also the center of attention in Mamoru’s class.
Hiroto Honjo (Voiced by: Takeo Otsuka)
Hiroto Honjo is a childhood friend of Saki and was not enthusiastic about being dragged along to Aya’s birthday camping trip by her.
Saki Akutsu (Voiced by: Haruka Michii)
Saki Akutsu is carefree and present. She doesn’t overthink and was more than happy to join the birthday camping trip for Aya.
Malet (Voiced by: Makoto Koichi)
Malet is a foreigner living without authorization in Japan and hides out in the abandoned factory. He is 11 years old and in search of his family.
Masahiko Honda (Voiced by: Takahiro Sakurai)
Masahiko Honda doesn’t seem as sharp as he is but he diligently carries out his duties as the secretary of Aya’s father.
