B: The Beginning Succession

Synopsis

Several months have passed since the “Killer B” case, and Koku and Yuna have been leading a peaceful life. But then Kirisame, a companion thought to have died at the Faura Blanca Research Institute, suddenly appears. Kirisame’s goal is to build a New World Order where canons and humans can coexist. To do so, he uses Koku’s power and ropes him into a battle. With his friends taken hostage, Koku throws himself into the fray.

B: The Beginning Succession is the second season to the OVA *B: The Beginning. It is produced by Production I.G and features Itsuro Kawasaki as director with series composition by Katsuya Ishida and Kazuto Nakazawa, character designs by Kazuto Nakazawa, Akane Yano, and Eikyo Kusama, and music by Yoshihiro Ike. The anime’s ending theme song is "Be Down" by ACCAMER. The anime debuted globally via Netflix on March 18, 2021.

Characters

Keith Kazama Flick (Voiced by: Hiroaki Hirata)
A member of the Special Crimes Investigation Division. He retired from the force after an incident but returned to the scene of the crime after the "Killer B" incident. He has a secret love for the case that he has never revealed to anyone. He has a genius mind but is not good at physical exercise and often falls down.

Koku (Voiced by: Yuuki Kaji)
A boy who comes to Lily's father's violin studio as an apprentice. He has been searching for a certain person. He has the ability to transform into a deformed monster.

Lily Hoshina (Voiced by: Asami Seto)
A member of the Special Crimes Investigation Division. For some reason, Keith avoids her, but she persistently follows him around and accompanies him during investigations. Although she is a rookie investigator, she surprises her colleagues with her unique flair.

Eric Toga (Voiced by: Hiroki Touchi)
A member of the Special Crimes Investigation Division, he is the field commander who leads the RIS investigation team. He has a sober personality and calm judgment, and he is able to handle any tough situation with precision. He used to study case investigation under Keith.

Boris Meyer (Voiced by: Minoru Inaba)
A member of the Special Crimes Investigation Division. He is an old investigator who is well-liked by Lily and the other investigators as a good advisor. Although he is close to retirement, he still goes to the scene of investigations. He has known Keith for a long time, and is one of the few people who knows about his past cases.

Kaela Yoshinaga (Voiced by: Ami Koshimizu)
A member of the Special Crimes Investigation Division. She supports her fellow RIS members by providing logistical support such as information analysis and technical support. she has a frank manner of speaking that sometimes confuses others, though she doesn’t mean to. She often works together with Eric.

Mario Luis Zurita (Voiced by: Shintaro Tanaka)
A member of the Special Crimes Investigation Division. He specializes in raiding crime scenes and securing suspects by utilizing his superior physical abilities. He has a blunt personality but is very caring and is loved by Lily and the other junior members. He is actually a secret fan of Keith.

Brian Brandon (Voiced by: Toshiyuki Toyonaga)
A member of the Special Crimes Investigation Division. He specializes in information analysis and technical support at the scene of investigations. He is an excellent investigator, but his inexperience makes him seem unreliable. He has feelings for Kaela, but she isn’t interested in him at all.

Jean-Henri Richard (Voiced by: Atsushi Goto)
A member of the Special Crimes Investigation Division. He is a veteran investigator who has steadily built up a solid track record. He has a long history with Keith and warmly welcomes him back to the field.

Gilbert Ross (Voiced by: Toshiyuki Morikawa)
A member of the Royal Institute of Forensic Medicine. He is an expert in forensic science, he works to identify the cause of death of crime victims and discover evidence. He has been an old friend of Keith's since their college days and is a good friend who continues to support Keith in both his private and public life.

Minatsuki (Voiced by: Kaito Ishikawa)
A man who leads a mysterious organization that targets Koku. He has a strong hatred for Kokuk and continues to target him relentlessly. He is behind the scenes manipulating various incidents that occur throughout the kingdom.

Yuna (Voiced by: Satomi Sato)
One of Minatsuki's subordinates. She is expressionless and doesn’t talk much. She has a strong sense of loyalty to Minatsuki and is willing to follow his orders to the death. He hates Koku as much as Minatsuki does.

Laica (Voiced by: Yu Kitada)
One of Minatsuki's subordinates. He is always by Minatsuki's side and continues to support him as his confidant.

Izanami (Voiced by: Mitsuki Saiga)
One of Minatsuki's subordinates. She has an easy-going personality and is optimistic. She enjoys attacking Koku.

Kamui (Voiced by: Kazuya Nakai)
One of Minatsuki's subordinates. He loves flashy things and likes to show off. He even stages his murders in a flashy manner. He sometimes forgets his original purpose and takes his own actions, which results in him being chided by Minatsuki.

Takeru & Kukuri (Voiced by: Nozomi Kameda)
Subordinates under Minatsuki. They are twins who look young but their age is unknown. They specialize in attacking in combination using guns.

Kuen (Voiced by: Makoto Awane)
One of Minatsuki's subordinates. He is the first assassin to target Koku.

Kirisame (Voiced by: Takuma Terashima)
A canon of the Faura Blanca Research Institute. He is picked up by a certain person after an attack on the institute. They want to make Koku their "king" for their own kingdom. He is working to make a place for canons like him.

Asagiri (Voiced by: Megumi Han)
The second generation canon who succeeded Koku and Kirisame. A continuation of King and Yukikaze’s research, she was made by combining Koku’s DNA and other information with the existing canon’s abilities. She is constantly observing Koku for a certain purpose.

Yukikaze (Voiced by: Kouki Uchiyama)
A canon of the Faura Blanca Research Institute. He supports Kirisame together with Kazan. He doesn’t participate in combat but rather is active as a canon researcher in next-generation research and analysis.

Kazan (Voiced by: Kenn)
A canon of the Faura Blanca Research Institute. He has often worked with Kirisame since he was a child. He has no personal goals of his own and supports Kirisame and Yukikaze in order to support their dreams. He is highly skilled in combat and specializes in fighting with spears.
