Synopsis

Gloomy is a ferocious bear who is taken in by a kind boy named Pitty after his favorite stuffed bear is thrown away. Though Gloomy often ends up attacking him, Pitty is determined to be there for Gloomy and live happily together.

Background

Gloomy the Naughty Grizzly is an anime based on the original character Gloomy Bear by artist Mori Chack. The anime was first announced on Dec. 28, 2020. It is being directed by Takehiro Kubota and will premiere in April 2021.

Characters

Gloomy (Voiced by: Koichi Yamadera)
Pitty’s pet bear. He is a little over 2 meters tall and weighs the equivalent of 2,000 pomegranates. He is very ferocious. He was abandoned shortly after birth and was taken in by Pitty. Though he is now well trained, he can’t seem to remember that he shouldn’t attack people and, as a result, often has blood on him (usually Pitty’s).

Pitty (Voiced by: Natsuki Hanae)
Gloomy’s owner. He is saddened when his favorite stuffed bear is thrown away until he happens upon Gloomy, who looks just like his stuffed bear. He is often attacked by Gloomy but still he always takes care of Gloomy. He has a kind and pure heart.
