Synopsis

There is a secret in this house…

In the Shadow House, a large mansion perched on a cliff, live the faceless, aristocratic Shadow family and their “living dolls,” attendants that serve as their faces. One day, Kate, a girl from the Shadow family, is visited by a living doll, and thus begins the mysterious daily lives of the Shadows and dolls.

Background

Shadows House began as a manga series written and illustrated by the duo Somato that has been serialized in Shueisha's seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump since September 2018. A color version is also released simultaneously in My Neighbor’s Young Jump and on the Young Jump! app, and the manga is distributed near-simultaneously in South Korea in the Neverbooks series. Six tankobon volumes have been published to date with the seventh volume releasing on March 18, 2021.

An anime adaptation was announced in the sixth volume of the manga in October 2020. It is being animated by CloverWorks with Kazuki Ohashi (Nisekoi, Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend Flat, Tsukimonogatari) directing, Toshiya Ono (Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, Gatchaman Crowds, The Promised Neverland) handling series composition, Chizuko Kusakabe (Inazuma Eleven Go vs. Danboru Senki W, Pumpkin Scissors, Trouble Chocolate) handling character designs, and Kenichiro Suehiro (Cells at Work!, Goblin Slayer, Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World-) composing the music. The ending theme song is "Nai Nai" by ReoNa, and the opening theme song is yet to be announced. The anime will premiere in Japan on April 10, 2021 on Tokyo MX, BS11, and other channels.
