Synopsis

The Demon Bull King who was once sealed away by the legendary hero Monkey King has been revived and sets his sights on conquering the world. Kid is an ordinary boy who works at a ramen shop and is a huge fan of Monkey King. One day, his life completely changes when he inherits Monkey King’s magic staff and becomes his successor. Now, it’s up to Kid and his friends to stop the Demon Bull King and save the world!

Background

Lego Time: Lego Monkie Kid is the second season of the anime that adapts the Lego theme Lego Monkie Kid which is inspired by Monkey King and Journey to the West and was first introduced in 2020. The anime is being produced by Plus Alpha and directed by Bob Shirohata. The theme song is “Iku ze! Monkie Kid” by D-51. The anime will premiere in Japan on April 3, 2021 on TV Tokyo and other channels.

Characters

Monkie Kid (Voiced by: Emiri Kato)
An ordinary boy who works part-time at a ramen shop and is a huge fan of Monkey King. In fact, he is Monkey King’s most diehard fan. For some reason, he inherits Monkey King’s magic staff. Now, he is on his way to becoming a hero who protects the world as Monkey King’s successor.

Monkey King (Voiced by: Shinya Takahashi)
A legendary hero and the strongest warrior. He is clever and has the utmost confidence in himself. However, he also likes pranks and can be a bit brash.

Mei (Voiced by: Mami Uchida)
A high-energy girl who loves to chat. She is Monkie Kid’s friend and always helps her friends when they are in trouble. She always stays up on the latest trends.

Pigsy (Voiced by: Hiroki Goto)
The owner of Pigsy Ramen. He gets angry easily and is always getting on Kid’s case, however he also has a kind side and takes care of him.

Sandy (Voiced by: Hideyoshi Nozawa)
A famous and muscular former hero. However, since discovering his true self he spends his days serving tea. He loves to do yoga together with Mo-chan the cat.

Mr. Tang (Voiced by: Junichi Yanagita)
He is knowledgeable on a variety of topics. He helps Kid out of jams using his calm demeanor and intelligence.

Demon Bull King (Voiced by: Masato Tanabe)
He aims to conquer the world and was sealed away by Monkey King in a previous battle. However, he is revived by Princess Iron Fan with help from Red Son and vows revenge on Monkey King.

Red Son (Voiced by: Megumi Han)
The son of Demon Bull King. He helps revive his father together with Princess Iron Fan.
Princess Iron Fan (Voiced by: Eri Kitamura)
Demon Bull King’s wife. She is evil, smart, and beautiful. She wields a powerful folding fan that blows away enemies in a tornado.
