Synopsis

The girls of Poppin’ Party, Roselia, and Raise A Suilen are still reeling from performing at the Budokan, the venue of their dreams, when a mysterious woman approaches Kasumi and the others of Poppin’ Party with an unbelievable offer to perform overseas!

Background

BanG Dream! (also known as Bandori in Japan) is a Japanese media franchise that was created in January 2015 by Bushiroad with original character designs by Hitowa and an original story by Ko Nakamura.

It began with the manga BanG Dream!: Star Beat written by Aya Ishida and published in the shonen magazine Monthly Bushiroad, as well as with the initial creation of Poppin’Party in 2015, an actual performing musical group made up of voice actresses. Since then Bushiroad has released music CDs, card games, multiple manga (BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! Roselia Stage; RAiSe! The story of my music), anime television series (Pastel Life, BanG Dream! Girls Band Party! ☆ Pico), animated movie (BanG Dream! FILM LIVE) and even a rhythm game (* BanG Dream! Girls Band Party*) as well as put on live concerts. There are now several bands made up of voice actresses including Afterglow, Pastel Palettes, Roselia, Hello, Happy World, Morfonica, and Raise A Suilen.

Bang Dream! Poppin' Dream! is the franchise’s fourth theatrical animated film, following up BanG Dream! Film Live 2nd Stage which was released in August 2021. It is once again being animated by SANZIGEN and features Koudai Kakimoto as chief director and Masanori Uetaka as director, with Yuniko Ayana and Midori Goto handling series composition, Yuniko Ayana also handling the screenplay, and Elements Garden composing the music. The film will be released in Japan on Jan. 1, 2022 in theaters nationwide.

Characters

Poppin’ Party

Kasumi Toyama (Voiced by: Aimi Terakawa)
The main protagonist of the story. Toyama is a first-year high school student who does vocals and plays rhythm guitar. She’s the cheerful and positive type.

Tae Hanazono (Voiced by: Sae Otsuka)
A first-year student and lead guitarist for her band. She’s chill but very perceptive. Her nickname is O-tae and she loves rabbits.

Rimi Ushigome (Voiced by: Rimi Nishimoto)
Rimi is a bass guitarist. She’s somewhat shy and reserved. She loves her older sister, Yuri Ushigome. Her nickname is Rimi-rin.

Saya Yamabuki (Voiced by: Ayaka Ohashi)
The drummer for Poppin’ Party. She’s a big-sister type who takes care of the other members when they go through tough times. She’s very kind and hardworking.

Arisa Ichigaya (Voiced by: Ayasa Ito)
Arisa is the band’s keyboardist. She’s argumentative and admits to being lazy sometimes, but she also gets good grades in school. The band usually practices in her basement. Her nickname is Aa-chan.

Roselia

Yukina Minato (Voiced by: Aina Aiba)
A vocalist and second-year high school student. She is a rival of Ran Mitake. She can be cold and cruel to someone who does not meet her expectations.

Sayo Hikawa (Voiced by: Haruka Kudo)
A second-year student, guitarist, and twin sister to Hina Hikawa. She has an inferiority complex about her sister and tends to take things too seriously.

Lisa Imai (Voiced by: Yurika Endo, Yuki Nakashima)
Lisa is a second-year student and bassist of Roselia. She loves gyaru fashion and does a good job at keeping her band together.

Ako Udagawa (Voiced by: Megu Sakuragawa)
Ako is a third-year in middle school. She’s the drummer for her band, loves online gaming, and has a case of chuunibyou.

Rinko Shirokane (Voiced by: Satomi Akesaka
Rinko, or Rin-rin, is an extremely shy and awkward second-year high school student. She’s a keyboardist but she’s scared to perform on stage. She makes the outfits for Roselia.

Raise A Suilen

Rei Wakana / Layer (Voiced by: Raychell)
A diva who can sing anything. She is very mature and keeps a certain distance from the others.

Rokka Asahi / Lock (Voiced by: Riko Kohara)
A hard worker who’s never had any luck, though she tries her best at everything she does. She loves Poppin’ Party.

Masuki Sato / Masking (Voiced by: Natsume)
Despite her appearance, she enjoys manga and baking cakes. She is a skilled drummer and the daughter of the owner of the live music club Galaxy.

Reona Nyubara / Pareo (Voiced by: Reo Kurachi)
A girl who is polite to everyone. She is a big fan of Pastel Palettes and has a strong obsession with cute things.

Chiyu Tamade / Chu2 (Voiced by: Risa Tsumugi)
A RAS producer who has an arrogant attitude but good manners. She loves jerky.
