Synopsis

More than 10 years have passed since the global futsal boom. After watching the U-18 (Under-18) World Cup final, Haru Yamato begins to strongly admire Japanese national team player Tokinari Tennouji. He enters Koyo Academy and enthusiastically joins the school’s futsal club, where he meets Seiichiro Sakaki, a lone wolf player who never passes the ball, and Toi Tsukioka, who almost gave up playing futsal at one time. There, he finds friendship with his new teammates, and together they face their rivals as they aim to achieve their dreams!

Background

Futsal Boys!!!!! is a mixed-media project by Namco Bandai Arts, Namco Bandai Entertainment, and diomedia and consists of a game app and upcoming TV anime. The smartphone game Futsal Boys!!!!! High-Five League is being developed by Namco Bandai Entertainment and will be released alongside the anime. The game’s theme song is “Higher Goals” written, composed, and arranged by R.O.N. and sung by all 29 players from the series.

The anime was first revealed in October 2019 and was originally planned for release in 2021 but was postponed. It is being animated by diomedéa and features Yukina Hiiro as director, with Shoji Yonemura handling series composition, Tomomi Ishikawa handling character designs, Hitomi Tsuruta handling sub-character designs, and R.O.N. composing the music. The anime’s opening theme song is “BRAVE MAKER” by Takao Sakuma, and STEREO DIVE FOUNDATION will perform the ending theme song. The anime will premiere in Japan on Jan. 9, 2022 on Tokyo MX.

Koyo Academy

Haru Yamato (Voiced by: Ryota Takara)
Born and raised in America, Haru came to Japan after witnessing the Futsal U-18 World Cup final and becoming a fan of Japanese player Tokinari Tennouji. His hobby in America was dancing, and he has championship experience and high physicality. He has a bright and straightforward personality and quickly becomes friends with anyone. His position is pivot.

Seiichiro Sakaki (Voiced by: Shuto Ishimori)
A cool and stoic type who is strict with himself and others. He is a famous player who showed true talent during his junior high days and made a name for himself as an all-rounder. He believes he can do everything himself and doesn’t trust his teammates, especially the newbie Haru. His position is winger.

Toi Tsukioka (Voiced by: Kohei Yoshiwara)
The captain of the team. He just returned to Japan after a year studying abroad in Spain. He has the skills for someone chosen to play on the U-18 national team, but he also has a past of being discouraged by Tokinari’s extraordinary talent. His position is defender.

Tsubaki Yukinaga (Voiced by: Ryotaro Yamaguchi)
The vice captain of the team. He energetically leads the seniors, but is there for them in times of need. He was helping support the team while Toi was in Spain. His position is winger

Ryu Nagumo (Voiced by: Kazuki Furuta)
A cheerful teammate and the team’s mood maker. Though he can easily get carried away, he also has a focused side. Despite his short stature, he shined bright in tournaments during junior high and takes on the role of an older brother who teaches the newbie Haru about the sport. His position is pivot.

Taiga Amakado (Voiced by: Yasunao Sakai)
A talented player who was the best goalkeeper during his junior high school days, but due to getting in a fight during a tournament, he was distanced from the sport. He is a former delinquent with an unfriendly look who is bad at communicating, which makes him easy to misunderstand. He is childhood friends with Ryu.

Adalbert Academy

Louis Kashiragi (Voiced by: Hiromu Mineta)
The captain of the Adalbert Futsal Club. He is a Japanese national U-18 player who is prideful of his strength as a player and thinks he can use it to make the team stronger. His position is defender.

Shin Yuki (Voiced by: Yuya Arai)
The vice-captain of the Adalbert Futsal Club. He has known Louis since childhood. Contrary to Louis, who is a strong leader, he often gently follows his teammates. He is kind and has a tendency to worry and sometimes gets angry when the team is reckless during practice. He is Tomoe’s classmate and invites him to join the team. His position is goalkeeper.

Takumi Kuga (Voiced by: Satoru Murakami)
He is the brains of the team. He is aloof and elusive, and often goes on reconnaissance trips to other schools without telling the others. He distrusts others but has some trust and interest in Louis. Likewise, Louis trusts his information and uses it to the team’s strategic advantage. His position is winger.

Kaito Kazanin (Voiced by: Junpei Baba)
He is the younger of two brothers and has an innocent and spoiled personality, but he also has a polite side and can get along easily with anyone of any age. He is especially close with Sei, whom he has known since childhood, and they often work together. He is a highly skilled futsal player and was scouted to join the team. His position is pivot.

Sei Kyogoku (Voiced by: Naoya Miyase)
An energy-efficient person who finds communicating with others to be a bother. He has a close relationship with his childhood friend Kaito, whom he forms a strong combo with during futsal. However, he doesn’t want to be a part of the team if Kaito isn’t there. His position is winger.

Tomoe Futaba (Voiced by: Tomoya Yamamoto)
Due to his looks, he is often misunderstood and seen as scary, but deep down he’s a hardcore otaku who loves the character Sirius from Space Force Galaxy Heroes. He lights up when talking about Sirius and tends to talk about him all the time, which is the reason why he doesn’t have many friends. Shin is one of the few friends he has, and he’s been inviting Tomoe to join the futsal team for a long time, but Tomoe always refused. However, when he learns that Sirius’ actor plays futsal, he suddenly became interested and joined the team. His position is winger.

Momomi High School

Nozomi Komori (Voiced by: Takao Sakuma)
The captain of the Momomi Futsal Club and a cool and confident band member. He tries to sound edgy in an effort to look cool, which his teammates tend to raz him for. Guided by the desire to be popular, he starts playing futsal with his friends. His motto is “live a happy and joyful life,” and he often gets mad at Yukimaru for his crazy futsal moves. His nickname is Non-chan. His position is pivot.

Natsuki Sogo (Voiced by: Mizuki Chiba)
He is friendly and very popular, but inside he’s a spoiled brat who wants to be taken care of. He has been friends with Nozomi since junior high and often makes fun of Nozomi when he tries to sound edgy. He started playing futsal after Nozomi invited him to. He likes to wear flashy clothes, and his nickname is Nacchan. His position is pivot.

Kyosuke Aiba (Voiced by: Kazuki Ura)
He likes to see others around him having a good time, and he often likes to tease and joke around. He started playing futsal with his friend Nozomi and became a goalkeeper due to being attracted to the idea of being a guardian. Though originally from Kansai, he moved for family reasons. He has been good friends with Rio since they first met during the high school entrance ceremony, where he mistook him for a fashionable girl from Tokyo. They often go shopping together. His nickname is Ai-chan.

Rio Hanamura (Voiced by: Keita Tada)
He often teases Nozomi together with Natsuki and Kyosuke. He is obsessed with social media and always uploads photos of him and the others. He likes cute things and is a bit of a trend junkie. His position is pivot.

Yukimaru Kurama (Voiced by: Minato Kamimura)
The only first-year student on the team and the only one with prior futsal experience. He takes club activities seriously, but is often pushed around by his seniors who would rather slack off. He always tries to teach beginners the basics of how to play the game only for them to run away due to his harsh training. Though serious, he’s also a bit of a clutz. His nickname is Marumaru-sensei. His position is defender.

Amanogawa Academy

Ren Kiryu (Voiced by: TAKA)
A young model who belongs to Star Course and has participated in overseas collections. He is the smartest player on the team but is a lone wolf who isn’t interested in team unity as long as he can kick the ball. He often skips practice and spends most of his time playing 1v1 matches. Due to not being interested in anything other than futsal, he doesn’t care about taking care of himself or eating proper meals, which leads Shun to often worry about him. His position is pivot.

Shun Shirakawa (Voiced by: Nobuaki Oka)
A young model who belongs to Star Course. He is kind and caring to everyone he meets. He has a meticulous appearance and always tries to be clean and tidy. Though the team is comprised of strong personalities, he tries to understand everyone and bring the team together. He currently lives in the dorm. He is childhood friends with Adalbert’s Kaito and Sei, who look up to him like an older brother. His position is goalkeeper

Togo Tachibana (Voiced by: Shoichiro Oomi)
A member of Star Course and the son of the head of a Japanese dance school. He is serious and hot-headed, and due to this, he can’t stand Ayato’s sloppiness, which often leads to them clashing. He owes a debt of gratitude to the principal and is eager to participate on the futsal team. He is the type to put his all into anything he does, and he brings that serious determination to the team. His position is pivot.

Ayato Imazono (Voiced by: Ayato Morinaga)
A young actor belonging to Star Course. He plays the role of Sirius in Space Force Galaxy Heroes. During work, he is “on” with a sparkling smile on his face, but when alone, he switches “off” and becomes sloppy and unmotivated. He often gets angry with Togo for his messy locker and carefree attitude. His position is winger.

Asa Minase (Voiced by: Takeru Kikuchi)
A new idol belonging to Star Course and one of the four members of the unit menow. He has a quiet personality and isn’t good at interacting with others. He also has a complex about being compared to his older brother, who can do anything, and lacks confidence in himself. His position is winger.

Soya Akizuki (Voiced by: Takuya Tsuda)
A musician belonging to Hope Course. He grew up in Vienna and came to Japan for family reasons. He has a strong interest in Japanese culture. He is free-spirited and goes at his own pace. Because of this, he rarely shows up to practice and has a mysterious air. However, when he does show up, he enjoys teasing the others and being elusive. His position is defender.

Okazan Academy

Ao Asahina (Voiced by: Keito Okuyama)
The captain of the Okazan Futsal Club. He has a strong competitive spirit and is a reliable person who also has a cheerful and innocent side. He has been playing futsal with Tokinari since they were kids. He is one of the best futsal players in Japan and has a powerful shot that is almost unimaginable given his small size. His position is pivot.

Tokinari Tennoji (Voiced by: Yoshitsugu Kawashima)
The vice-captain of the Okazan Futsal Club and a member of the U-18 national team. He lost his parents at a young age and was saved by his relative Ao, who has always been there for him and has been a driving force in his life. He is cold toward anyone other than Ao, even treating his teammates as nothing more than pawns in order to win. His position is pivot.

Ryutaro Sera (Voiced by: Sousuke Shimokawa)
A man’s man who is stoic and strict with himself, and sometimes works too hard. He is well liked by others but also has a crass side. He often doesn’t pay attention to details in his daily life. He worries about Saku, who is the only first-year student among the team’s regulars. His position is goalkeeper.

Ryosuke Minase (Voiced by: Takahide Ishii)
An honor student who always has a smile on his face and is able to do anything with ease. He is very fond of his younger brother Asa, and his doting attitude is well known among his teammates. He met Emilio in Spain, where he grew up and first began playing futsal. His position is defender.

Emilio García (Voiced by: Ryosuke Kozuka)
The team’s mood maker who is cheerful and positive. He has a fearless personality and is often unafraid to give advice to Tokinari. He has a keen intuitive sense and can get to the heart of things. He came to Japan from Spain to study and to play futsal again with Ryosuke, whom he was close to as a child. His position is winger.

Saku Hasumi (Voiced by: Tsubasa Kizu)
The only first-year student among the team’s regulars. He has a serious personality but is also cheeky and contrarian. He tends to be especially cheeky with Ryutaro, who always tries pressing his buttons. Although a first-year, he is chosen by Tokinari to be a regular member due to his assisting ability and has been practicing hard to contribute to the team. His position is winger.
