Synopsis

Jotaro Kujo’s daughter, Jolyne Cujoh, is betrayed by her former friend Romeo Jisso and set up to take the fall for a theft and hit-and-run, and now she’s looking at a 15-year prison sentence at Green Dolphin Street Prison. She can’t help but feel despair at the thought of being locked away for something she didn’t do, but when she touches a pendant given to her by Jotaro, her powers as a Stand user are suddenly awakened...

Background

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean is the sixth story arc in the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure manga series written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from January 2000 to April 2003 and was released in 17 collected tankobon volumes under the Jump Comics imprint. A spin-off manga by Sho Aimoto titled Fujiko no Kimyo na Shoseijutsu: Whitesnake no Gosan (Fujiko's Bizarre Wisdom: Whitesnake's Miscalculation) will be published in Ultra Jump magazine in December 2021.

A TV anime adaptation was announced by series creator Hirohiko Araki during the livestream event "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure the Animation Special Event: JOESTAR Inherited Soul" held in April 2021. The anime is being produced by david production and features Kenichi Suzuki as chief director and Toshiyuki Kato as director, with Yasuko Kobayashi handling series composition, Masanori Shino handling character designs, Shun'ichi Ishimoto handling Stand designs, and Yugo Kanno composing the music. The anime’s opening theme song is "Stone Ocean" by ichigo from Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets, and the ending theme song is "Distant Dreamer" by Duffy. The anime began streaming worldwide through Netflix on Dec. 1, 2021

Characters

Jolyne Cujoh (Voiced by: Fairouz Ai)
The daughter of Jotaro Kujo. She is falsely accused of a crime and sent to the heavy security prison Green Dolphin Street Prison (also known as G.D. st. Jail). She carries the strong will and tough spirit of the Joestar bloodline coupled with a feminine charm. Her Stand is Stone Free.

Ermes Costello (Voiced by: Mutsumi Tamura)
A female prisoner at G.D. st. Jail. When it comes to being in prison, this isn’t her first rodeo. She has a cheerful and compassionate personality and gives advice on prison life to Jolyne, who knows nothing about it. Her Stand is Kiss.

Foo Fighters (Voiced by: Mariya Ise)
A mysterious female prisoner who Jolyne meets in prison. Her Stand is also named Foo Fighters.

Emporio Alnino (Voiced by: Atsumi Tanezaki)
A mysterious boy who wears a baseball jersey and cap. For some reason, he is able to move freely through the heavily guarded prison. He shows a willingness to cooperate with Jolyne but his true motives and identity are unknown.

Weather Report (Voiced by: Yuichiro Umehara)
A mysterious man who stays hidden in a secret room in the prison. He is taciturn and expressionless but is calm and has excellent judgment and insight. His Stand is also named Weather Report.

Narciso Anasui (Voiced by: Daisuke Namikawa)
A mysterious man who stays hidden in a secret room together with Weather Report. His Stand is Diver Down.

Jotaro Kujo (Voiced by: Daisuke Ono)
Jolyne’s father. He comes to see her in order to rescue her from being falsely accused and locked away in prison. It has been several years since he has seen Jolyne, during which time he divorced from her mom. His Stand is Star Platinum.

Enrico Pucci (Voiced by: Tomokazu Seki)
A priest who works as a chaplain at G.D. st. Jail. He follows the will of DIO and stands against the Joestar bloodline as their greatest enemy. His Stand is Whitesnake.

Gwess (Voiced by: Momoko Taneichi)
A female prisoner who shares a cell with Jolyne. She approaches Jolyne holding the pendant that she received from Jotaro. Her Stand is Goo Goo Dolls.

Johngalli A. (Voiced by: Satoshi Hino)
A male prisoner at G.D. st. Jail and a fanatica subordinate of DIO who swears revenge against the Joestar bloodline. His Stand is Manhattan Transfer.

Thunder McQueen (Voiced by: Tooru Nara)
A male prisoner at G.D. st. Jail. He has a rotten personality and has repeated attempted suicide.
His Stand is Highway to Hell.

Miraschon (Voiced by: Yui Kondo)
A female prisoner at G.D. st. Jail. She is a wicked character loyal only to her own desires who is willing to steal and commit violence to get what she wants. Her Stand is Marilyn Manson.

Lang Rangler (Voiced by: Chikahiro Kobayashi)
A male prisoner at G.D. st. Jail with a theoretical mind. His fingers are deformed into suckers under the influence of his Stand, Jumpin' Jack Flash.
