Dragon Quest Series Story

Since there are a large variety of games within the Dragon Quest series, there are also a variety of stories. The basic premise of most of the games surrounds playing a hero who is trying to save the world from an evildoer. Usually, the hero is accompanied by a party of several different people. Each party member has their own personality, abilities, and motivations. Some of the Dragon Quest games are related to one another, while others are not. For example, Dragon Quest I-III seems to be related by various story elements. IV, V, and VI all feature the same castle as an important feature of the plot.

Dragon Quest Series Development

The main Dragon Quest game series was originally published for the first time in May of 1986. In North America, the Dragon Quest game series was actually originally published as Dragon Warrior until 2005. This is due to Square Enix wanting to avoid a trademark conflict with the DragonQuest tabletop game series. In 2002, Square Enix was finally able to register the trademark to use the Dragon Quest title. The Dragon Quest game series has had a very large impact on the development of role-playing video games. From 1986 to now, Dragon Quest has still had the same core development team under Yuji Horii.
