OtapediaGotenks Dragon Ball Z - Figures

Gotenks is the first fusion of the Dragon Ball franchise and arguably the most iconic. Originally formed out of a need to defeat the overpowered Majin Buu, Son Goten and Trunks continue to use their combined powers throughout the series. By the end of Dragon Ball Z, Gotenks is one of, if not the most powerful character in the series. However, his power is limited by fusion’s time limit, which keeps him from breaking the universe’s strength balance. Despite his lessened appearance and relevance in later series, Gotenks still remains the strongest for DBZ fans. The “Hero of Justice” has inspired numerous figures as the most popular fusion character to date. The three best Gotenks figures are “Dragon Ball Super Master Stars Piece Gotenks,” “Dragon Ball Z GxMateria Gotenks,” and “Ichiban Figures Dragon Ball Rising Fighters Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks.”

Dragon Ball Super Master Stars Piece Gotenks Figure

This Banpresto figure highlights the strong resemblance between Gotenks and his (half) father, Vegeta. While not in Super Saiyan form, Gotenks still has an extremely well-developed physique, emphasized here with carving detail. He stands with his hands on his hips, and his hips are slightly thrust out. Despite his small stature, he tilts his head down to look at the viewer with a smirk, conveying his pompous attitude. His glowing confidence resembles the arrogance Gotenks felt after his first successful fusion. While not ready to handle Majin Buu at that power level, the bravado in this figure makes it seem like he’s ready to take him on once again.

Dragon Ball Z GxMateria Gotenks Figure

From the GxMateria line, this figure shows a Super Saiyan Gotenks unleashing his signature attack, Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack. Both Gotenks and his accompanying Ghost Kamikaze have fists punching forward in a fierce stance. Gotenks shouts with intensity while the Ghost Kamikaze angrily bares his teeth in aggression. The Ghost Kamikaze is sculpted with a clear base plastic mixed with metallic flakes and an ice blue finish to mimic a spectral quality. Gotenks receives equal attention to his clothing. His cropped vest flies up around him in response to the surge of energy. The teal sash around his waist flies up near his head showing great force and movement.

Dragon Ball Rising Fighters Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks (Ichiban Figure)

Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks looks intimidating as can be in this Ichiban Figure from Bandai. With his long, voluminous gold hair and flexed, claw-like hands, Gotenks almost takes on an animalistic quality. His golden hair is also beautifully painted with a light, pearlescent sheen. The colors are expertly chosen with a balance of saturated navy and teal hues and lighter yellow pastels. He leaps in the air with his legs drawn in toward his body. The movement shows through the flow of his hair and sash. Detailed sculpting continues on his face, with a fully carved shouting mouth and a deeply creased impression of eyebrows. Overall, the bold posing of the figure along with the excellent carving captures the full power of Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks.

About Gotenks

Gotenks is the Fusion Dance fused result of Goten and Trunks and the first Fusion Dance fusion in the series. Goten and Trunks formed Gotenks for the first time during the Majin Buu saga taught under both Son Goku and Piccolo. As a fusion, Gotenks shares personality traits with his components. His arrogance and mischievous traits come from Trunks while his playful, whiny side comes from Goten. However, when not defeated by his own overconfidence Gotenks proves to be incredibly powerful, especially in Super Saiyan 3 form. His attack style is unique amongst other Saiyans in the series, most clearly represented in his signature attack: Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack.

Other Important Dragon Ball Characters

Gogeta and Vegito are fusion forms of Gotenks’ respective fathers, Son Goku and Vegeta. Gogeta is the result of a perfect Fusion Dance fusion between the two and first appears in the film Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn. Vegito is the result of a Potara fusion of the two, using a pair of earrings shared between two parties of unequal power levels. As combinations of both Goku and Vegeta’s powers, both Gogeta and Vegito are two of the most powerful characters in the series.

Master Roshi, also known as the Turtle Hermit, is a martial arts master who trained Goku, Krillin, Son Gohan, and many strong fighters in the series. He himself is one of the strongest humans in history and the greatest fighter of his generation. Despite his impressive martial arts skills, Master Roshi’s most distinctive personality trait is he’s a lecherous pervert. His school, the Turtle School, teaches the energy technique, the Kamehameha, which becomes Goku’s family trademark move.
