Thanos - Action Figures

Thanos is a supervillain that appears in Marvel Comics. He was created by writer and artist Jim Starlin and made his first appearance in The Invincible Iron Man #55 in 1973. Thanos is thought to be one of the most powerful villains within the Marvel universe. He is a menace to the Marvel superheroes across several occasions and many platforms. He has appeared in comics, movies, video games, and animated television series. The most recent adaptation that has involved the character is within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thanos has appeared in several films within this franchise in the last decade, having been played by both Damion Poitier and Josh Brolin. This supervillain has many different figures dedicated to him. Thanos Avengers: Endgame Nendoroid Figure

Thanos Marvel Universe Fine Art Statue Figure

This 1/6 scale statue of Thanos features him seated on his Space Throne at an impressive 17.1” tall. He is sculpted as he appears throughout the Marvel Comics series with his iconic blue and gold suit. Thanos Series Story

The story of Thanos begins with him being a pacifist and turning into nihilist as he grows older. He becomes fascinated with death, even falling in love with the physical embodiment of death, Mistress Death. In an attempt to impress her, Thanos gathers an army and begins a nuclear war, killing millions of his own Titan race. He does not stop there, though. Thanos travels to Earth in search of ultimate power in the form of the Cosmic Cube. Having attracted the attention of Mistress Death, he continues to wreak havoc on all humanity. Captain Marvel, along with the aid of the Avengers, is eventually able to defeat Thanos and destroy the Cosmic Cube. This story is simply the beginning of this powerful villain and is far from the end.

Thanos Series Development

Thanos was developed by writer and artist Jim Starlin during a college psychology class. He created Thanos as well as Drax the Destroyer and presented them to Marvel. Eventually, editor Roy Thomas asked Starlin if he wanted to do an issue of Iron Man, and he gladly accepted. The look of Thanos was actually inspired by another character, Darkseid, created by Jack Kirby. Thanos made his first appearance featuring a story that was written by Jim Starlin and co-scripted by Mike Friedrich. The popularity of this comic and subsequent comics that he was included in caused the creation of a title of his own name. This title, beginning in 2004, continued for 12 issues. Thanos had a positive critical reception, ranking high in comic book villain lists across the globe.
