The Queen’s Blade series follows in the footsteps of a time-honored anime tradition involving buxom warrior women in skimpy armor. Queen’s Blade, the anime, visual combat novels, and games, centers on the fanservice as its heart and soul. But the series goes beyond simple nudity and female wrestling. Inventive combat styles and demon-girl hybrids liven up the suggestive and erotic scenes, adding more appeal for fanservice fighting series fans. Queen’s Blade Unlimited Infernal Temptress Airi Figure

This figure from MegaHouse shows the Swamp Witch’s loyal Wraith, Airi, in her most dangerous form. She stands with her knees turned innocently inward, one hand coyly posed at her lips and the other behind her back. She wields her scythe in its unlimited form. The giant blade now changed from silver to a matte charcoal black adorned with a shiny purple gem near the base. The black chain on the handle swirls around Airi’s body, curling up at the end by her knees. Her maid’s outfit has been recreated down to every ruffle on the apron, skirt, and petticoat. Her long red twintails fall down in curling tendrils around her scythe blade. Carving detail shows the zigzag part and the texture of the strands pulled into her black ribbons. She stands perched on the edge of her blade. The figure is supported by translucent stands affixed to her heels.

Alice 1/8 Scale Boost Designer Color Ver. Figure

Alice’s incredibly popular Boost figure has been repainted in alternate colors in Alter’s 1/8 scale figure. The figure is posed in a deep lunge. Alice points her foot on her straight leg as her bent leg balances on a bat wing-like arch. She wears her standard outfit: a leather vest unzipped at the bottom, thigh high socks, thick studded belt on her hips, and ankle boots. A batwing motif continues through the design, including the wing on her shoulder and right boot. Instead of her usual color scheme, her hair is black with white highlights, dramatically whipping behind her. Her vest is now white and her accent color has changed from orange to hot pink. The figure includes her dual guns and bendable whips that can be shaped for many attack poses.

Nendoroid Risty Figure

Tough bandit leader, Risty, gets a cute chibi form that still catches her wild demeanor. Her revealing outfit contains all the elaborate details from her original details. The wide jacket shows her sculpted chest as well as her small metal piece hanging from the buckled collar around her neck. The feathers on the top edge of her armbands fan out toward her face on all included arm parts. Her long thigh tattoo has been carefully painted on her fully articulated leg. The full leg articulation even allows her to rest seated on the ground. The sculpting on the purple cape hanging from her belt shows the natural pull of gravity. The figure includes her signature flail and shield. Interchangeable face plates include a stoic expression representative of her brave personality and a wild battle cry. Either fit snugly framed by her red headband and long bushy red hair.

Queen’s Blade Series Story

Queen’s Blade follows the events of the namesake tournament held in a fictional country called the Continent. Once every four years, women battle to determine which one is the most beautiful and powerful queen. Various warriors travel to Continent’s capital, Gainos, to fight the current queen, Alda. The first Queen’s Blade story focuses on the heiress to the Vance family and next in line for the throne, Leina. Leina encounters many other fighters on her journey to Gainos planning to enter the Queen’s Blade tournament with their own intentions for rule. A supplement series called Queen’s Gate involves licensed characters from other franchises within the world of the Continent.

Queen’s Blade Series Development

The Queen’s Blade series began as a set of visual combat novels published by Hobby Japan in 2005. While a fighting series, the franchise made a name for itself through its sexually explicit and erotic depictions of its entirely female cast. The series evolved to include four manga spinoffs, three light novels, and two anime series. The first anime series, Queen’s Blade: Wandering Warrior, aired in 2009 on AT-X and subsequent channels in Japan. The original broadcast on AT-X was uncensored while all other broadcasts were heavily edited. The series has inspired supplement series, sequels, and spin-offs involving popular characters from other franchises and fairytales.
