Synopsis
Toru Kirishima is a member of the Sakuragi-gumi yakuza syndicate known as "The Demon of Sakuragi” due to his penchant for solving problems with brutal violence. One day, he is suddenly summoned by the syndicate’s boss and to his surprise is appointed as the caretaker of his only daughter, Yaeka! A heartwarming comedy between a young yazuka hotshot and the boss’ only daughter begins!
Background
The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting started as a manga series written and illustrated by Tsukiya that began serialization on the webcomic site Comic Ride pixiv in June 2018. In May 2020, the series transferred to Micro Magazine's Comic Elmo manga service. As of February 2022, seven collected tankobon volumes have been published. The series has been licensed for English release in North America by Kaiten Books, who are publishing the manga both digitally and in print. As of December 2021, the series has more than 670,000 copies in print.
A TV anime adaptation was announced in September 2021. It is being jointly produced by feel (Dagashi Kashi, Hinamatsuri, This Art Club Has a Problem!) and Gaina (Cap Kakumei Bottleman, Forest of Piano, Hulaing Babies Aratame: Staying Babies) and features Itsuro Kawasaki (Cardfight!! Vanguard, Magical Girl Ore, True Cooking Master Boy) as director, with Keiichiro Ochi (Aikatsu on Parade!, The Demon Girl Next Door, The Quintessential Quintuplets) handling series composition, Hiromi Ogata (Katana Maidens: Mini Toji, Minami-ke: Omatase, Norimono Man Mobile Land no Car-kun) handling character designs, Kazue Mori handling sub-character designs, and Takuro Iga (Aria the Scarlet Ammo AA, Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits-, Slow Loop) composing the music. The anime’s opening theme song is "Mirai no Hero Tachi e" by Sho Takeyaki, and the ending theme song is "Kaerimichi no Iro" by VTuber Shibuya HAL. The anime will premiere in Japan on July 7, 2022 on Tokyo MX.

Toru Kirishima (Voiced by: Yoshimasa Hosoya)
Toru is a top member of the Sakuragi-gumi yakuza syndicate. His penchant for solving problems through violence has earned him the nickname "The Demon of Sakuragi." He is the type who does as he pleases. One day, he is suddenly appointed to be the caretaker of the boss’ only daughter, Yaeka.
Yaeka Sakuragi (Voiced by: Misaki Watada)
Yaeka is the sole daughter of the boss of Sakuragi-gumi. She is a shy girl who isn’t very good at expressing her emotions. One day, under her father’s orders, Toru is suddenly appointed as her caretaker.
Kei Sugihara (Voiced by: Kaito Ishikawa)
Kei is the head underling of Sakuragi-gumi. For better or worse, he is an honest person and a jokester with an abundant range of expressions. He has respect for Toru.
Kazuhiko Sakuragi (Voiced by: Ryota Takeuchi)
Kazuhiko is the head of the Sakuragi-gumi and Yaeka’s father. He is strict with himself and others but has a soft spot for Yaeka.
Miyuki Sakuragi (Voiced by: Mai Nakahara)
Miyuki is Yaeka’s mother.
Kanami Kurosaki (Voiced by: Misa Kobayashi)
Kanami is Yaeka’s aunt. She runs the restaurant Kurosaki. She isn’t afraid of her brother-in-law Kazuhiko or Toru and treats everyone equally.
Toichiro Aoi (Voiced by: Tomoaki Maeno)
The former young head of Sakuragi. He is a well-mannered, responsible, and caring older brother but is rather short-tempered.
Rei Hojo (Voiced by: Wataru Hatano)
Rei is Toru’s best friend since junior high school. He is also the artist who designed Toru’s tattoo. He currently runs the shop TATOO.
Masaya Hayami (Voiced by: Jun Fukuyama)
Masaya is a member of the Kakihara-gumi. He loves to fight and used to pick fights with Toru during junior high. He joined Kakihara-gumi in search of Toru.
Yuri Mashiro (Voiced by: Hiroshi Kamiya)
Yuri is the young leader of the Momoyama-gumi and is Toru’s sworn enemy. He is a man of unknown lineage who likes Toru’s ruthlessness.
