OtapediaInuyasha - Figures

Fans of anime know Inuyasha’s significance in the medium. Inuyasha represents an era of 90s romance, action, and historical manga. The story involves Kagome Higurashi traveling back in time to the Sengoku Era in Japan. Her adventures set the standard for time travel romance animes of the generation. Kagome may be the main heroine, but other main characters such as Inuyasha and his half-brother, Sesshomaru, rank as the most popular characters. These pretty boys served as the first crush for many female fans. As a result Inuyasha and Sesshomaru feature in the most figures for the series. Here are three figures that show off the charms of the two half-siblings: "Nendoroid Inuyasha," "Inuyasha Sesshomaru 1/7 Scale Figure," and "Inuyasha 1/7 Scale Figure."

Nendoroid Inuyasha Figure

Inuyasha gets an adorable chibi form in Good Smile Company's Nendoroid line. He wears his classic Robe of the Fire Rat, which has been faithfully recreated down to each fold and billow. His light amber eyes include his trademark narrow pupils, denoting his half-dog demon status. The figure comes with three facial expressions: a confident smirk, a fierce yell, and a confused expression. His confused face references his reaction to the "sit" command, which can be reenacted with the figure. Accessories include additional handpieces with extended claws and a sheathed and drawn version of Tessaiga.

Inuyasha Sesshomaru 1/7 Scale Figure

This breathtaking scale figure from Hobby Max Japan shows a confident Sesshomaru in the midst of battle. He stands wielding Tenseiga in his right hand, holding the blade out in front of his face. His long white hair flows behind him, the strands lifted and separated in the wind. His ornate outfit is beautifully recreated, with careful attention to each detail. His spiked pauldron attaches to his cuirass, encircling his left shoulder. The long sash around his waist drapes loosely over his hips, popping against the cuirass with a vibrant yellow and blue color scheme. The paintwork skillfully matches the design to the folds in the sash. His voluminous mokomoko drapes over his right arm, featuring light carving and shading to capture its furry quality. A transparent effect along the rubble at his feet implies the high speed of his last attack and the fierce battle to come.

The Inuyasha Series Story

After falling in a well behind her family shrine, 15-year-old Kagome Higurashi finds herself transported to Sengoku Era Japan. Immediately, she encounters the half-human, half-dog demon, Inuyasha. The sacred Shikon Jewel emerges from Kagome's body but she shatters it in her attempt to retrieve it. The shards scattered all over Japan, landing with various humans and demons. Kagome and Inuyasha reluctantly travel together to retrieve the shards. As their traveling group expands, Kagome and Inuyasha learn that Inuyasha's former imprisonment and the death of the famous priestess, Kikyo, are all connected to a spider demon, Naraku. The group races to keep the Shikon Jewel out of Naraku's hands. Throughout their travels, Kagome and Inuyasha slowly develop feelings for each other, which is complicated by the resurrection of Kikyo.

The Inuyasha Series Development

Inuyasha began serialization in November 1996, published in Weekly Shonen Sunday. Mangaka, Rumiko Takahashi, wanted to create something darker than her previous work, Ranma 1/2. The series ran for 556 chapters over the course of 11 years. Inuyasha received its first anime adaptation in 2000, produced by Sunrise. The series includes 167 episodes and ended in September 2004. When the final volumes of the manga came out, a second anime adaptation, Inuyasha: The Final Act, covered content from volume 36 to the end. The series aired from October 2009 until March 2010. Critics praise the manga for balancing action sequences, dialogue, and character development. As of 2020, the manga has over 50 million copies in print. In pop culture, Inuyasha and Kagome's romance serves as an iconic shoujo romance, especially of the 1990s.
