Synopsis

Kaede is a gyaru who comes across a stray dinosaur one day so she does what anyone would do - takes it home to live with her! But this is no ordinary dinosaur: he likes to eat human food, watch TV and lounge around, and even enjoys being fashionable!

Background

Gal & Dino began as a manga series written by Moriko Mori and illustrated by Cota Tomimura that has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine since October 2018. The anime adaptation was announced in September 2019. It is being co-animated by Space Neko Company and Kamikaze Douga with Jun Aoki directing and writing the story and Gin composing the music. The anime premiered in Japan on April 4, 2020 and ran for seven episodes until it was announced in May that the remaining episodes would be delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The anime resumed airing on Oct. 3. It is available to stream through Funimation in North America and British Isles and through AnimeLab in Australia and New Zealand.

Characters

Kaede (Voiced by: Miyuri Shimabukuro)
Kaede is a 22-year-old gyaru who lives with a dinosaur in her apartment while working part-time at a convenience store. She has an easy-going personality and takes care of Dino.

Shota (Voiced by: Seiichiro Yamashita)
Shota is Kaede’s ex-boyfriend. He likes playing cards and gets along well with Dino.

Senior Colleague (Sempai) (Voiced by: Youki Kudo)
Sempai is 21 years old and works with Kaede. She is a college student who lives with her parents.

Yamada (Voiced by: Yuko Natsuyoshi)
Yamada is Kaede’s friend who often visits her at home.

Dino
Although he cannot speak a language, Dino can understand several languages and communicates through expressions and gestures. His favorite food is cup ramen.
