Synopsis

The boys of IDOLiSH 7 have risen to fame, but things are harder for the group than ever. Due to Riku’s illness and being under stress from fans’ high expectations, Iori becomes the group’s new center, but this only disappoints fans and leads to tension between Iori and Riku’s fanbases. Tensions also run high in the group as certain members’ performances come under fire. Tenn’s long lost sister, Aya, also appears and seems to be carrying with her a dark secret regarding Tenn’s traumatic past. Can the idol guys work out their differences and light up the stage once more or will they be outshined and fall into obscurity?

Background

IDOLiSH 7 Second Beat! is the second season of the IDOLiSH 7 anime. The anime is once again being directed by Makoto Bessho at TROYCA with Ayumi Sekine returning as the series composer along with supervisor Ei Aoki, original character designer Arina Tanemura, animation character designer Kazumi Fukagawa, and chief animation director Masami Inomata.

The anime premiered on April 5 in Japan but was delayed after the fourth episode due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It returned on Oct. 4 in Japan on Tokyo MX, BS11, and other channels and is being streamed internationally through Crunchyroll as episodes air in Japan.

Characters

IDOLiSH 7
Iori Izumi (Voiced by: Toshiki Masuda)
A cool 17 year old with a focused mind. Not only does he have a calm demeanor and polite disposition, but he handles any task given to him flawlessly. He is a member of IDOLiSH7.

Yamato Nikaido (Voiced by: Yusuke Shirai)
At 22 years old, he is the oldest in the group and very much takes the role of older brother. While passionate, he also comes across as aloof. He is a member of IDOLiSH7.

Mitsuki Izumi (Voiced by: Tsubasa Yonaga)
An energetic 21 year old who always manages to brighten everyone’s mood. Despite his cute appearance, he actually has quite the chivalrous personality and is very helpful and considerate. He is a member of IDOLiSH7.

Tamaki Yotsuba (Voiced by: Kenn)
An incredibly intelligent 17 year old with professional-grade dancing skills. He does things at his own pace. He is a member of IDOLiSH7.

Sogo Osaka (Voiced by: Atsushi Abe)
A friendly 20 year old who is hard-working and attentive. He has no problems performing any dance or song flawlessly. While he is usually kind, even towards strangers, his anger is something to be feared. He is a member of IDOLiSH7.

Nagi Rokuya (Voiced by: Takuya Eguchi)
A half-European, half-Japanese 19 year old. He is incredibly handsome with natural charisma. He loves anime and has a habit of chatting up any woman he sees. He is a member of IDOLiSH7.

Riku Nanase (Voiced by: Kensho Ono)
An 18 year old with impeccable singing skills. He has a diligent and obedient personality. Somewhat naive, he is also the type of person who cannot refuse anything asked of him. He is a member of IDOLiSH7.

TRIGGER
Gaku Yaotome (Voiced by: Wataru Hatano)
A handsome 22 year old who is so overwhelmingly popular, he was voted as the number one idol fans would want to embrace. He is quite the sore loser and, while his words can hurt, cares deeply for his fellow members. He is a member of TRIGGER.

Tenn Kujo (Voiced by: Soma Saito)
An 18 year old who, despite being known as a bad boy, is all about finding one's balance. He takes being an idol very seriously and tries to do everything with perfection. He is a member of TRIGGER.

Ryunosuke Tsunashi (Voiced by: Takuya Sato)
A mature 23 year old who steals the hearts of his fans by charming them with his sexy and wild personality. Secretly, however, he is an incredibly shy and gentle person. Those who find out about this are always deeply disturbed. He is a member of TRIGGER.

Re:vale
Momose Sunohara/Momo (Voiced by: Soichiro Hoshi)
Energetic and easy-going with a bit of a mischievous side, Momo is a member of Re:vale along with Yuki and seems to always be dragging him into his schemes.

Yukito Orikasa/Yuki (Voiced by: Shinnosuke Tachibana)
Cool and collected, Yuki is the second member and songwriter of Re:vale. Due to his caring personality, he is often the go-to guy when someone needs advice and he tends to look after the younger groups.

Takanashi Productions
Otoharu Takanashi (Voiced by: Susumu Chiba)
He is the kind and honest company president of Takanashi Productions, the agency that manages IDOLiSH7. He watches over them with patience and attention.

Banri Ogami (Voiced by: Kazuyuki Okitsu)
He is a staff member who supports Takanashi Productions.

Tsumugi Takanashi (Voiced by: Satomi Satou)
She is the only daughter of Otoharu and a manager at Takanashi Productions.

Other Characters
Sosuke Yaotome (Voiced by: Katsuyuki Konishi)
He is the president of the agency that manages TRIGGER and also the father of TRIGGER member Gaku. He is prepared to do anything to meet his goals.

Kaoru Anesagi (Voiced by: Yoshihisa Kawahara)
He is the manager of TRIGGER. Despite his appearance, he is strong-willed and terrifying when angered.

Rinto Okazaki (Voiced by: Makoto Furukawa)
The manager of Re:vale.
